Remember This Guy?
|
No. But I kept cringing thinking something was going to give until.... Can't ruin it for the next guy.
|
What is he up to these days? I remember watching his show on Sunday nights as a kid. Loved it!!!! Pretty much the only "Local" fishing show at the time that was mostly salt water. One episode he was killing huge stripers from shore way up the North River. I’d love to see that episode again.
I remember another show where a spawning fish shot him right in the face. Funniest thing I ever saw, he turned to the camera and said, "look at that, the spice of life" and released the fish while wiping off his mug. |
I don't remember the show but the deckhand is rocking some sweet jorts
|
I think his show was "Sportfishing the Northeast". If I remember correctly it was late 80's ealy 90's when it was on air. If anyone has these shows on VHS/DVD, please let me know
|
It is ringing a bell now that you post that stuff...
|
I have a hunch he won the pool
|
I remember him
I still have that awesome episode of the North river on VHS tape someplace, unless it got wrecked in the flood. Those were some cows during the day on eels:uhuh: |

If you read the caption under the video, it says that a guy rented a rod and reel, left the line baited in 100 ft. of water, and went to sleep. When he came to, the fish was on the boat, and he tried to claim it.
Sorry Charlie! |
Nevermind this dude, who else remembers Gadabout Gaddis?

Moogie, If this is you.
I want you to know that as a kid (15 or so, I'm now 34) I watched that show every Sunday night. Literally looked forward to it all week long. Thanks! |
That's mike alperin. 'Phestaris' from the boating forums uncle mike. I see them out in Boston harbor quite a bit

Curt Goudie and Ted Williams used to come up to the Saco River in the Early 60's and fly fish for Stripers . Great people to fish with. They may have been famous but they sure didn't act it.
Gaddabout Gaddis used to fish the Crooked River behind my buddies house for Salmon and Trout in the spring time. |

I actually met Gadabout Gaddis
when I was 7 years old dad took me to the sportsmans show and he was there and said hi to me. I remember he was wearing a cowboy hat.
That was 50 years ago |
Watched the show years ago. One of the first shows for NE there was on TV. Remember he would always end the show with a "catch and release and God Bless America"
I know that spot in the N River well. There is a couple new McMansions and private docks on that bank now but the fish don't mind. |

Ya, Gadabout Gaddis,"The Flying Fisherman" wore a straw cowboy hat. Times were much simpler then. . . . |

I loved that show, too. Mike was a regular, local fisherman as a host. Something we can all relate to. I'm 40 and I still think about that North River striper episode. I lest a positive impression and changed how I fished for stripers.
Thanks Mike! |

It's amazing how many people remember that episode. It's also amazing that I didn't get Lyme disease from all the ticks that were feeding on me, even though I was wearing the waders. It was so hot that day. it was like 85 degrees within a couple of hours after sunrise. We were actually scheduled to do the shoot at another location, but I changed my mind at the last minute. I'm glad I did. Moog |
