What boat is this?
I've seen this boat for several years in WPT. I love this thing, I know it's a ChrisCraft but cannot find the model.
Can anyone help identify this model? |
stealth model. :hihi:
|
I can't upload the pic and I cannot delete the item.
Thank you for the comment, it's faster than any of the sleds you work with the monkey crews |
A couple of them have seen 40+ knots under sail. :)

YouTube - ABN AMRO 2 footage from Volvo Ocean race. the blue older beast at the gate went across the gulfstream at 36.5 top and she's considered past her prime. :) Going fast under sail does have a price http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0qbyRWSptg |

A few times. Where's nightfighter? I know he's had some crazy rides. :hihi: |
My rides are ancient history.... long before videos and interblab. If you don't know the players, no one cares....

Other than the boat was certainly good at destroying crew (and killing one) and saw 30's going across the Atlantic. And that was 25+ years ago! Nirvana is over at NEB if you want a blast from the past. Shindig has some great stories from her past. She's been to Hawaii, spent probably 5-6 years total in the Carribean, did a stint in the Med etc. Been a long 16 years she's been sailing. |
Well, Circus and Desparado are at the bottom of the Atlantic.... We were nothing more than glorified test pilots, or test dummies. The designers would come to the dock or yard after we came in to see what we had broken, which was our hidden agenda. (Being young, I thought they had a high opinion of our skill...) Tanton, Pedrick, Frers, Chance, they all wanted to see what would really hold up outside of the test tanks. They knew the designs would work, but that the materials might not. So, take the boats to the limits, repair them for a race, get provisioned, pick up the strap hangers, race, repair, start over...
But we were good at breaking boats... dropped rigs, dropped keels, broke rudders, ripped sails, fractured hulls and sunk one. You guys are reaping the benefits of our pushing the limits of what we had available. None of them were all around boats. But we did have a lot of fun..... |
Don't worry, we're still breaking em. ;)
"Hmm, thats interesting." -one of the Harken boys on us destroying a main traveler car. Can't imagine what the side loads were considering what the car and ball bearings are supposed to be able to hold up to. |
This Boat Dammit!

It is difficult from only that picture, but it does look a-lot like a Strike 26.
|
It says Chris Craft on it, it has an inboard and a walk down sleeping area in the front.

That was my call too. We used to have one (with a tower). |
Chris craft use to make a similar looking boat but that to me looks different...looks more like an old blackfin hull that was modified into a CC.
Nice job too. The name on that boat should be "sweat equity" because the labor to do what he did to that was substantial. If you inter-bread a cape cod 26 (single diesel) with a Jupiter you would have that boat! :) |
|
Nope
|
Fiberglass or wood?
Bow and lines look like an older 33' Century if it was chopped. |

This is a 26ft Chris Craft that was Tautog's boat prior to the Blackfin 29. "Rhodes Runner" She ended up down in FL when he sold her.
26ft Chris Craft. was a cuddy/express type. A previous owner had put the tower and canvis on it. Small cuddy down below. Easily could see it as a walk-around, especially if the original layout was no tower and canvas.... twin gas inboards, otherwise a good boat. we killed a serious amount of Blackfish in that boat back in the day, and was a very nimble little 26. Tautog is on buisness down in Fl this week. when he gets back, he might remember the original model. |
God bless the queen :)

Back to the on/off topic. The volvo ocean race last year had some of the boats reaching 50 knots.
