Proud Dad Moment...

Last night my Son passed his Eagle Board of Review and is now officially an Eagle Scout. You couldn't wipe the smile off that kids face last night (or mine for that matter :hee:).

I am extremely proud of the kid and he definitely earned it.

I just thought I would share the news w/ everyone.....after all you've been putting up w/ my scouting posts for over 7 years now :hihi:

nightfighter 01-21-2011 06:37 AM

Nicely done to both the Scout and the Dad....

TheSpecialist 01-21-2011 06:41 AM

Awesome, that is a very respectable achievement

numbskull 01-21-2011 07:02 AM

Quite an achievement for you both.

BigBo 01-21-2011 07:14 AM

Congratulations to you and your son Kevin. A proud moment indeed.

PRBuzz 01-21-2011 07:28 AM

Congrats. Earning the rank of Eagle is something very few scouts achieve. The Eagle ceremony is sure to bring huge smiles to both father and son.

spinncognito 01-21-2011 07:33 AM

Awesome! I never made it past cub scout... Is Eagle the highest ranking? You truly are The "Dad" Fisherman and your kids are quite fortunate to have a father who really cares Kevin.

RickBomba 01-21-2011 07:38 AM

Kevin,

Congrats! It's a major achievement and both of you should be very proud. I noticed that you haven't posted any camping trips this year though????

buckman 01-21-2011 09:02 AM

ecduzitgood 01-21-2011 09:29 AM

Congratulations, I hope he is proud of his accomplishments, way to go!

The Dad Fisherman 01-21-2011 09:33 AM

Thanx Guys.....appreciate all the kudos. He told me when he was 6 years old he was going to be an Eagle and he followed through on it. He learned a lot along the way too....

Ricky, see me tomorrow and we'll toast to it....:hee:

Paul, we were supposed to go last weekend but the other adult on the trip ended up in the hospital having surgery Friday so we had to cancel. We still went September, October, and November though.

That's great news and big accomplishment.

There is a lot of college scholar ships for being an eagle scout.

Very hard thing to achieve.

Congrats and savor his hard work.

and now has a high security JOB in Virginia/washington so secret

:kewl: congrats!

Jim in CT 01-21-2011 12:12 PM

A heck of an achievement that speaks volumes about both of you. Takes dedication, committment, hard work, sacrifice, planning...all virtues that will serve your son well.

Scouting is awesome, and as John R said, our youth would be well served to put down the electronic gizmos and get into scouting. I got through Boy Scouts, loved it, can't wait to get my kids involved.

RoyL 01-21-2011 12:17 PM

Congrats, that's awesome

Rockfish9 01-21-2011 12:22 PM

You should be very proud.

gf2020 01-21-2011 03:55 PM

Congrats, Kevin. I knew George's committee was meeting last night. I earned mine in 1984.

I'll expect to see you both at the Eagle Recognition dinner in February 2012.

Kevin Tell your son good job, he is one of the few that manages to stick it out.

Now you owe a 1000 word report on what his project was.

Mike

striprman 01-22-2011 01:17 AM

I was a First Class scout. I don't know what a kid has to do to become an Eagle Scout these days but if it was anything like back in the "old days" he deserves much, much credit.

BassDawg 01-22-2011 08:55 AM

!!! CONGRATULATIONS !!!

Kevin and Son,
WELL DONE, to you both.
:claps: :claps: :claps: :claps: :claps:

becoming an Eagle Scout is one of the most difficult achievements that young men could aspire to. especially so, in this God forsaken Wussification Era our Nation has thrust itself into. our male youth is being polarized against what it means to be a man on so many levels! it does my heart good to see and hear that your son not only WANTED to be an Eagle Scout, even more so that he EARNED such a lofty goal. for truly, such an aspiration will test one's mettle with regard to mind, body, and spirit. it challenges one to perservere when the end is nowhere in sight. it is an arduous process of accomplishments in multiple and varied endeavors. it is the culmination of many years of Scouting and it's highest honor~~ that requires ALL of the above, is attempted by many, and achieved by so very few.

Congrats, INDEED!!!
