Luckily I didn't say:

The Planets. Dvorak: New world

The Four Seasons by Vivaldi

That's back when I actually listened to music, now I treat it all as white noise (like when your wife speaks to you: in one ear and out the other :) ).

Highway 61 revisted - Dylan

Low Spark of High heeled boys- traffic

Katie 02-18-2011 03:21 PM

Pearl Jam - Ten
Three Days Grace - One X
Mogwai - The Hawk Is Howling
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Linkin Park - Meteora

rphud 02-18-2011 04:32 PM

My off hand shot would be

Filmore East
Wish You Were Here
Led Zeppelin
The Yes Album
Brain Salad Surgery
Royal Scam
Beethoven's Ninth (CSO or BPO coin toss)
Monks Music
Kind of Blue
Romantic Warrior
Inner Mounting Flame
Shadows and Light
Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar
Glen Gould Goldberg Variations

It would be easy to lengthen the list but very very hard to shorten it. I could easily carry this many LPs in case of fire, probably a bunch more. Might get real hot while I was taking time pulling them from the racks though. Hair is way overrated anyways.

The Yes Album
Brain Salad Surgery

Yes and ELP - many good buzzes were kept going by them. Always loved Jam bands and listen to that station on aol radio nowadays.

I always preferred Pictures at an Exhibition For ELP

ProfessorM 02-18-2011 09:55 PM

I'm a brain salad surgery guy

got to throw a Tull album in there, Passion Play

so many albums so hard to pic just a few. I really can't

rphud 03-01-2011 12:52 PM

They are all keepers, but I would probably go with Stand Up.

(and the BPO on the 9th)

Slingah 03-02-2011 06:19 PM

WILCO - Being There

blondterror 03-02-2011 07:56 PM

just bought Quadraphenia from itunes... I had forgotten how good it is....

rphud 03-03-2011 08:22 AM

Man o man, I got almost all of this stuff on vinyl and very little in electronic format for my Ipod. Got to find a way to change that without breaking the bank. Not so sure I want to re-record them myself from vinyl though. Might be the best way when it is all said and done.

Ryan560 03-03-2011 05:07 PM

You can buy one of those new usb turntables I think there going for around $100, or I just use the rca outputs on the turntable to 1/4" headphone jack and plug it into the mic input on your computer. I have my whole vinyl collection backed up on my computer doing it that way, I use a program called Cool Edit Pro. You can mess with the levels and background noise to get a nice crisp digital recording.

rphud 03-04-2011 09:39 AM

Probably the way to go, but man do I have a lot of hours worth of vinyl.

Are you my dad :) My dad talks about when he went to see the brain salad tour it was so loud he couldn't take it. I played thick as a brick almost until it wore out

Some I can think of:
VU whitelight/white heat
Pavement crooked rain
Tool Aenima
Jefferson Airplane Surrealistic
Cornell 77 run among a couple hundred others
Phish Big Cypress or Great Went
Hendrix Electric Ladyland
Dylan Blood on the tracks
Clash London Calling
Husker Du Zen Arcade
Pixies Surfer Rosa
Ween The Mollusk
Stones Let it Bleed
Dvorak new World symphony and Barbers Adagio for Strings melt my face
I could go on all night...

Nebe 03-04-2011 09:57 PM

Odelay is a great album.

I have this discussion with one of my friends every time we meet up for drinks. We call it the "desert island 5 albums" which shouldn't need any explanation.

My 5 change often, but right now they would be, in no particular order
Beastie Boys - Check Your Head
Afgan Whigs - Gentlemen
Led Zeppelin II
The Clash - Sandinista!
Rocket From The Crypt - Scream Dracula, Scream

rphud 03-05-2011 07:30 AM

Rocket from the Crypt! cool, I would lean bit more towards Cannibal Corpse

Husker Du, did not see that coming cool too

Odelay would probably be the first one added to my current list, I find myself listening to it over and over during the course of a year

good stuff, keep it coming

ProfessorM 03-07-2011 04:14 PM

Chicago Transit Authority is an album I need to hear every so often.

Kind Of Blue is another

blondterror 03-07-2011 04:17 PM

Little Feat.... Waiting for Columbus...

this is a must have for me....
