hey bob - got to find a weekend w/ some decent weather to get you out groundfishing in my boat :uhuh:

ThrowingTimber 05-06-2011 07:15 AM

I'm in the sooner we get the dates nailed down the better for me. My preference would be a weekend. If its during the week I have to beg amd bribe someone to wash dishes for me while I'm gone.. Or they'd probably just leave me a two day pile of dishes...

Is this like the S-B cod trip May 15th: the Helen H knows to expect a group from S-B.com? Book your own reservations?

Link Please.

niko 05-07-2011 12:18 PM

fish4striper 05-10-2011 03:43 PM

Looks like a blast but my cookie jar will have a large hole in the bottom by September - Someday, next year maybe

Go large!

MakoMike 06-13-2011 01:22 PM

You guys should have talked to me first, I could have matched te price for a two day trip for the 4 of you, on a private boat with no nincompoops around.

PRBuzz 06-13-2011 02:21 PM

Question: has anyone actually seen the 50% reservation fee billed their credit card yet? I haven't so I just sent HelenH an e-mail to get the story, i.e. do I actually have a reserved spot.

Mike: if no reservation, might be an interesting opportunity for 4 of the 10 so far interested. I'd be one!

Mike: what's your experience recently doing canyon runs, 2 day, and targeting mahi, yellow's and wahoo? What's your boat? Safety gear? Sorry but trips of this kind I need to know.

MakoMike 06-14-2011 08:31 AM

I do several overnight canyon runs every year, sometime charters sometimes just with friends. You can see the boat and get more info at my website Http://www.makomania.net Don't go expecting a wahoo, they are fairly rare Most common catch are yellowfin and albacore, mahi-mahi are also a good possibility. Other, less common catches include White and blue marlin, bigeye tuna, and wahoo.

The fishing is trolling during the day and chunking at night, most of my equipment is 6 foot stand-up rods with Penn International 80Ws on them. Feel free to PM me with questions.

niko 06-14-2011 11:45 AM

[QUOTE=PRBuzz;865340]Question: has anyone actually seen the 50% reservation fee billed their credit card. They have not charged me yet. Prob just pay at the boat and they whack you if you biff out

Having been on over 20 tuna trips on the Francis Fleet, its no day at the beach! Had some limit trips and some no fish trips. Bring some squid jigs. Live squid always seemed to be the best bait. Try to sleep on the way out cause we fished from 4 pm to approx 8am. The bite might turn on at any time so You don't wanna be in the rack when it happens. To have a good chance to get some fish You have to stay up for 16 hrs. I love My beer, but only bring monster or other power drinks to stay up for the night. Also bring one of those throwable boat cushions to sit on. Good luck Guys! One thing i'd bring the next time is a line counter that clips on the rod. When the Capt says marking at 120 its hard to judge without one. The Gal next to me nailed em cause she had one and I didn't.

PRBuzz 07-11-2011 08:05 AM

Anyone interested in the Sept HelenH trip, try to watch last week's OTW show. Showed the trip I think from last Fall catching yellowfin, mahi and the 82lb wahoo. Good show for info on what you might expect and experience. You might see some faces you'll recognize, right RoyL?

Piscator 07-11-2011 08:18 AM

Can't go, wife bought tickets to the Island Creek Oyster Festival in Duxbury on the 10th. She's exicted and planned it with some of my buddied wifes so there is a big group of us going and it is in my best interest not to get out of it.........

niko 08-02-2011 06:19 PM

TTT. i'm not sure if there is any room left but if you want some yellowfin tuna or mahi give them a call and book a spot. little over a month away.

Fish On 08-23-2011 10:56 PM

I'm in. They said they had "quite a few" spots left.

Fish On 08-25-2011 11:50 PM

Let's hear it!

I've heard one pretty good report. Who's been out? Let's have some news from the Canyons......please! Get pumped!

Mr. Sandman 08-26-2011 09:49 AM

MM,
