camera was MIA (sorry)

Bob Thomas 10-29-2011 05:08 AM

Just saw the latest predictions....12" + for my area.

I feel like Adam Vinatieri just lined up a 60 yard field goal and hit me square in the groin! There is still so much to do to get "ready" for winter. This just sucks!

tper 10-29-2011 06:45 AM

At least I am not alone -- going out now to winterize stuff -- Have to clean shed first to make room -- Gonna be a great day -- ARGHHHHHHH What happened to the fishing season -- we take it for granted when it is here

Tper

Raven 10-29-2011 11:07 AM

just did a survey

:devil2: it looks like its gonna be real bad
due to the type of snow were getting

wet and sticky....

and the fact that the trees are still
fully leafed out. it's only a matter of time
now before you start hearing the snapping
of limbs and out goes the lights.(power)

i have sagging branches now that will soon be touching
the ground that are normally over your head :rollem:

striperman36 10-29-2011 04:52 PM

gonna stay west of 495 for a while, NE wind is going to keep it warm here

Rob Rockcrawler 10-29-2011 05:25 PM

Lost power at 330. Already got dinged by .a big oak branch. Just replaced the roof 3 weeks ago, took a corner off the house. Gunna be a long night

UserRemoved1 10-29-2011 05:40 PM

You can already hear trees snapping in the woods here.

Power has glitched a few times.

Liv2Fish 10-29-2011 06:43 PM

Just went down to check out the beach down in S Plymouth - up on the cliffs. I could lean out into the wind like the old peppermint patty commercials. Crazy wind and pounding rain.

Hopefully the surf will dig out the reef that got completely buried by the last Noreaster of last spring. Flattened out the whole beach and filled in all the deep holes. Not worth a $h!t since the reef disappeared.

Anyone think there will be anything left in CCB after this one?

Vogt 10-29-2011 07:48 PM

Had a limb go straight thru the new over-hang on the back patio.... bummed

Looks like a Lowe's run is in order for tomorrow.

stripermaineiac 10-29-2011 07:54 PM

snowing pretty good up here. trees are already touching the ground. won,t be long till lights go out.

Spinfish 10-29-2011 09:03 PM

Lots of branches breaking all night. Thud thiud thud all night on the roof as snow globs fell from trees. lost power at 4:45. Came on at 12 PM. Still need to survey the damage around my yard but at least nothing appears to have fallen on the house this time.

What a pain in the butt !!

piemma 10-30-2011 01:32 PM

800 foot driveway. 54 trees down across it. Just finished cutting and dragging. Been at it since it got light around 7.

Just another fall noreaster on the Cape. Rain, and wind, 35-40 sustained w/gusts to 50-60. Nothing out of the ordinary. Didn't see a single downed tree in my travels today.

Karl F 10-30-2011 08:52 PM

woke me up at 3:30 AM, not sure what wind speed was, but it was a constant freight train sound, I think the strongest winds lasted til about 5 AM here, but continued well into late AM.. couple of oaks in my yard snapped, fortunately nothing hit. Lots of dead limbs and twigs down everywhere.... took a ride around town, CCBay was angry just after lunch time. and the sounds of chainsaws was abounding, saw lots of trees down around Orleans.

electricgenerator.com: The Leading Electric Generator Site on the Net

I bought a Gererac 8500KW, electric start, 4 110, 1, 220, $800 delivery included. Had the house panel wired for the generator. Bingo, lost power. Started the Generac. No problem.

Rockfish9 10-31-2011 06:12 AM

only about 6" at my house.. killed my dog wood... I'm going to try and graft the main trunk back together, I sucessfully grafted another section about 10 years ago.. this time it's pretty bad... no major pine boughs.. ... the whole neighbor hood has been without power since 8:00 saturday night... lights and heat at my house curtosey of my 3500 watt Troy built.. it's enough for a few lights, heat and TV...

I fueled it up and checked the oil this morning before work.. hopefully power will be restored when I get home from work..

BobT 10-31-2011 09:21 AM

Lucky, only 5 hours down. What a way to get the leaves off of the driveway............snow blow them !!!!!!!

Is grafting when you drill a hole between the split sides then bolt it together? If so, that method worked like a charm for my inlaws dogwood after one of last years late snow storms. I was seconds away from ripping the other half off, when my father in law said he was going to have it bolted. I never thought it had a chance, but both sides flowered and it looks good as ever.

PRBuzz 10-31-2011 11:57 AM

I once had a burning bush shrub that split due to weather, wrapped the trunk pieces back together tightly with duct tape (use #1001) and in couple seasons was good as new. It has now been at least 15 years since and never split again.

piemma 10-31-2011 01:42 PM

did the same with a spreading yew 2 years ago. Still growing fine.

Jenn 10-31-2011 04:45 PM

Got about a foot here. My sister in the hills towns got 2 feet. so many trees down I wont even go into it!~We just got power back about an hour ago after being out since saturday afternoon. We were one of the first to get it back and the rest could be up to a week. First thing I did was let the house warm up, second was wash dishes, third was a nice long and hot shower

Tried to be a good trooper and got double duty from my camping gear but needless to say I am very happy to be warm again!
