I have viewed the thread two or three times not because I am rushing down to the canal. I thought it was cool two friends getting together to fish when they had time. Goo stuff BT glad you guys got together and had some good fishing last week.

You guys are just too much. Don't see anyone of you down there with a deed in your pocket. must really bug the rest of the tax payer to find out just a small few own the Canal. Sad attitude. been fishin there since the 60's an still don't think i own it. Made a lot of good friends there too.Don't hear many of them whinin about it. besides kinda hard to burn a spot that is that many miles long an in every striper publication written.Enjoy the good things of the pics an stop with all the damn negatives.I thought this site was about enjoying striper fishing an sharing not just for a selfish few. Have you been fishing it lately? Crowds are out of control at times, the place gets trashed, ect. 99.9% of us don't think we own it, are great to fish with and would give you a plug out of our bags if we were catching and you didnt have one. We are trying to prevent the masses from showing up that don't respect the place and other fisherman. 1,000s of people are watching and a percentage will run to the canal when they get a report, even if its a false one...

You guys are worse than the Wicked tuna show.

Yup. Bad decision. I have had my spot to myself for 2 days. Today, the clown car showed up and there were more guys who didn't have a clue than I have seen a quite some time. I counted 12 guys in the space of 100 yards. This where there has been no one Sunday or Monday morning.

Everyone has a right to post whatever they want. Just keep in mind that there are ramifications anytime you post even a remote reference to a spot. It's not the members here. It's the million lurkers.:fury:

Well get used to the crowds. Gonna get worse as more people are not workin an looking to fill the void. Loads of spots in the ditch an if one rock is full try another one. A long time ago I was taught to fish my own game an if someone copied it take it as a compliment. But above all keep my mouth shut unless i was willing to share my knowledge an teach new guys how to work an area so as we don't step on toes. i love it when i'm fishin a spot for 4 or 5 tides an the bike brigade see's me catchin fish an are in the spot an hr before I get there an crowd it so that I can't fish it. Loads of Gibbs stickers in that bunch. Many never fished it till recent. then I see those same people on here whinin about spot burnin after they commit real poor eticuite an take over someone's quote rock. If a spot is too crowded I move an if someone is fishin near where I wanna fish I ask him if he minds that i fish near him. Amazing how many Canal Friends I've made that way. Some even ended up with one of my experiment to try an I one of theirs.LOL It's about enjoyin the experience an makin a few friends som ewhich will last forever.

Guys - foot off the gas - The Canal is a big generic place. Would prefer a little more vague, perhaps Greater Ditch Area :rotf2:

The blooper video segment would be absolute TV GOLD! Saw a guy recently cast his whole rod into the water bout 5 feet, had to crab walk out to get it :rotf2:

Maybe twice a year. Never have an issue with crowds. I also fish the night shift.

Boy o boy you guys are very touchy.I'd give it a try but don't want to do it wrong and gitcha all mad. There must be a place that gives canal leasons and such.

I heard he caught that fish that was on the back of the bike over in chatham and then peddled it over to the canal! :D :hidin:

The problem is that most of the guys that are saying it's OK to post about the canal don't fish it regularly. They come down once or twice a month, leave, and then feel the need to tell everyone and their brother on here how good the fishing is. That is completely inconsiderate and disrespectful to the guys who fish it consistently,who don't pay attention to reports, and don't rely on them. Can't you see how frustrating it would be to put in all that time and then have a couple heroes come on here and give everyone a free report? If you can't see that then you are completely oblivious or you could care less. Put in your time and find your own fish...

Exactly Bart. Exactly. I don't mind guys fishing around me. I have dealt with it for 40+ years. What I do mind is the "Paul Reveres of the world announcing "come one, come all.

Stripermaniac, I respect you but you are off base as far as I'm concerned. I DO have 50 different spots to fish in the Ditch. I do talk with a lot of guys but I have my favorites and after I do an 80 mile drive to get to one of my spots at 3:00 AM to find 3 guys with white buckets who don't have a &^%$ clue as to what they are doing, I get annoyed. Clearly they are there because they got a "report".

Crowds are common in the areas close to major parking lots we have to deal with this any "breaking tide". Major spot specific reports are bad for sure, IMO Chris' original post was not a burn. Todays crowd was nowhere near as bad as others this year alone. In fact I havent seen one "specific" spot burn on this site in a long time. The canal being crowded in June is a fact of life.

Sounds contradictory to what we witnessed you doing on your last trip. My buddy who had just finished catching fish was packing up, you ask him why hes leaving, then jump in your truck, follow him, then get out and immediately start casting your plug over us jigging(making us cut our drifts short. Hypocrisy is awesome LOL

LOL Well not sure what your talkin about T as all my fishin was off the back of my bike this year an never did cast over others as most times i was either alone with Lee or there before others got there LOL.As far as plugs n jiggin go well plugs about never bother jigs as they're on top an jigs are down deep. Fish both an never have a prob with others fishin out of my hip pocket an same with them.I will say this the only time i drift long is with darters an thats at night. all you day fisherman are home sleepin then . just us old guys an nuts down there at night. LOL.About never see anyone else then, but this grumpy old guy that lives close to the ditch an some day gotta get him to bring some of that good coffee he makes down with him.Love that coffee holder he has on his bike. gotta find one of them. LOL

What a bunch of whining fairies. Not a single one amongst you who does not rely on somebody else's reports. Dopes who throw rocks at people on their rocks....wow am I glad to be in a boat. I will be displaying my white bucket tomorrow for the dbags to cry about.Now I know why NIB quit fishing...grade school BS.Don't forget,at one point we ALL had no clue.
