South facing beaches at sundown. Large (LARGE) bluefish chunk on however long of a single strand wire leader you can cast. (7'-9')
Forget the sand spikes or you'll be chasing it thru the surf.
We used to be pretty good at it off Nantucket.

I'd be down. Pretty sure dead eels do damage on brown sharks...

The Dad Fisherman 07-03-2012 11:19 PM

I'd soooo love to do this....

yes they do. Live eels too. I'm no expert by any means but have gotten them for the past few years.
Once you get them close to shore hang on! Each crashing wave kinda gives them a re-charge. I've had them peel off over 100 yds after having it in 1' of water.

Caught many a brown shark fishing PINS back in the 80s.Even caught one off of 2nd beach in Middletown several years back.

AL617 07-04-2012 11:01 AM

Count me in Paul, been wanting to try it for awhile. Some good beaches real close to me.

ProfessorM 07-05-2012 08:12 PM

I'd be up for that too. I'm only a mile from a few good beaches too. Heck I'd just like to observe and socialize. I'm easily entertained.

Piscator 07-05-2012 08:46 PM

Paul, I'm in!

fishbones 07-05-2012 09:58 PM

Paul, I'd be very interested depending on the date. Even better if I could bring my son along. He's obsessed with sharks.

i'm over on canal by the church. so do we have anyone with a kayak? it would be nice to get a couple of baits out deeper. we could also use a few more stout chunking setups.

The Dad Fisherman 07-08-2012 11:04 AM

I got a yak....any dates and locations been tossed around yet?

niko 07-08-2012 03:04 PM

how about sat july 28th. falmouth would be the area. they should be around by then. i'll do a little research and make sure thats not to early to try

t.orlando 07-08-2012 04:23 PM

Not too early. I might meet up with you guys.

tlapinski 07-08-2012 05:34 PM

I might be down for this. Going to keep an eye on things and make the long ride up if the better half doesn't already have plans. What are we talking for terminal tackle?

bart 07-08-2012 06:22 PM

If that handsome beast of a man T.O. will be there, so will I....

capecodkid 07-08-2012 07:15 PM

I gotta work til 10PM that night but I'll swing by after since its in Falmouth

MarshCappa 07-08-2012 07:20 PM

Parking might be an issue . . . I know the lot at Heights Beach are open (and staffed) until 11 . . . the others (heading East - Bristol Beach and further down Menahaunt might be locked as early as 9 pm . . . the Town seems to be inconsistent but Id hate to see anybody locked in overnight :rotf2:

Might be better off heading to the West of Falmouth Harbor - along surf drive - a great spot might be at the mouth of the Trunk river (a small herring run - aren't they all) - there is a small parking area along the bike path that is never locked - room for 20 cars right at the edge of the ocean. I'm going to try and post the spot from Mapquest - but I'm sure Professor M and some of the other locals know of what I speak - you can see the path leading off Oyster Pond Road toward the water in the attached map.

My weekend place is only a couple of miles away - I've been doing some long deferred maintenance (paint, lawn, etc) if I get it done maybe I'll have the crew over for burgers 'n dogs . . . I think the only one from the "I'm In" crew that has met me is Vic . . .
