Wives......AND ....FISHING
The only reason wives don't fish is because they've never felt the Rush of a fish pulling on their line. My wife is fast becoming a fisherwoman and is loving it. Her enthusiasm is incredible. I simply just LOVE to hear her excitement when she says so quickly
"OH...I got one " and watching her get all apprehensive about what should she should do. Enthusiasm defined is: strong excitement of feeling and or something inspiring zeal or fervor. So the trick seems to be... Have them "catch" the fever and then they will understand The need to fish that the husband's have. IT is contagious... and as John so correctly stated: We encourage you to bring your signifigant others...but we are not responsible for what might happen. My wife would complain that she wasn't able to fish not that I was out fishing. I am indeed a lucky man in many more ways than one! :) |
My wife hates fishing, especially when it's me doing it.:( Unfortunately she works both weekend days and 3 nights during the week so fishing for me this season will be few and far between.:af: Atleast I can read about you guys catching fish.
|
My wife has been there , done that =many ,many times
her largest is 40#=not trolling either\ sooooooooooooo I have no problem fishing , fishing , fishing========I,m a lucky guy   :D |
don't talk to me about wife's....unless its 9o out, flat calm, high noon,,and am not going more than swimming distance from shore she'll go only to say 45 min's later, ok I'm ready to go home now.:wall: so now I just tell her it's not going to b nice out there, I'll see ya when I get home:D
|
Nope. No my problem anymore. I got a LIFE again tho:D :D

The two things in my life that I truly enjoy,NASCAR and fishing,my
girl isn't interested in. When I met the ol'ady(don't tell her I called her that!) I told her these two things I can't compromise on.I must fish and I watch racing on Sunday.Well that was 2yrs ago so its safe to say she's cool with it. |
Clammer...sorry couldnt make this one...we had some things that needed our attention this weekend.:(
I know some women just dont like fishing... and some will never understand (and hey,,,,not everyone likes everything).....but shame on those who complain about the wives but have never TRIED taking them with them! and kudos to those who have! |
I take my Daughter with me sometimes, but have never taken my Wife:smash:
I will ask if she would like to try it when she gets home today. She has always let me have my fishing time and I'm grateful (lucky) for that. Nice catch blackeye!! Update: I asked and she is not interested, I'll talk her into it sometime. I think she would enjoy fishing, but maybe not. |
heh heh heh
jenn! kudos= a new striper boat soon.... off the wish list and in the planning stage. Any recomendations as to what's the perfect striper boat (everyone) would be certainly appreciated. I'm definately not a millionaire but if theres a will -theres a way!:)
|
my wife has been fishing , doesnt like it . she lets me enjoy it when and where ever I want . she will also schedule her vacations around the best striper times ( june , sept/oct ) so I can fish to my hearts delight . She a GREAT ole lady ( you can tell her I said that ) ! I treat her right too ! maybe thats why ?
|
your terminology is perfect chris
you said your "OLE" Lady meaning (mine).... never think to switch that with "old" or then the sparks will Fly! lol;) your absense then will only make her heart grow fonder !
|
been married 19 years so I know what I can and cant get away with . LOL besides shes younger than I am so If I call her "old" I must be too .
|
My wife just doesn't get it, she is finally loosening up a little, after about 5 years with this gang. I've found the key is to just deal with whatever comes along the next day and never mention being tired.:smash:
|
We have been married 46 years in August and The Admiral has been involved in my fishing ventures from before our marrige. She has been up to her cute butt in Bass and Salt Water and will go fishing now only if we do not fish the Pigs at night. Other places OK but no high rip fishing for her at night.
A man is blessed to have a wife who enjoys his persuits and/or allows him his pleasures without complaint! |
I took my girl friend(10 years together) fishing a few years ago, she didn't like the constant casting, She is going to try some chunking this summer. The point to this is, she is so GREAT about my fishing,, I married her on May 5th

46 yesrs - that's a good record Chet!
Bobbike - Congrats! |
My wife is pretty cool about my fishing. She really enjoys it too, but its tough for us to get out together. She's got a pretty impressive saltwater resume and has caught stripers, blues, redfish, seatrout, and jack crevalle.
Her favorite is bluefish in the surf... she likes heaving rangers and ballistic missiles and the huge blow ups when they hit. She has little desire to do the night thing or to get up at 4am with me. She doesnt' give me too much sh#$ even now with the twins, but I can feel the crunch a bit when I'm out there, so I don't push it. |
I'm taking the fifth on this thread !!!!!!!!:smash:

Not too many women like fishing.
There are more all the time, but still, the numbers are few. I think if a woman's biological clock is ticking, she should take up fishing, join a club, etc. She'll be married before too many more ticks go by. Women fishers are prized catches... My wife, Linda, does not like to hurt fish so I go alone most of the time. She's pretty good about letting me go, but I don't fish like I used to so maybe that has something to do with it.... Blackeye....you should get yourself a good 35mm camera with a flash and shoot slides of your bride-to-be fishing and with fish. You could sell many pictures with her as a model....there is a big market in fishing photography for images of attractive, younger female fishers...take a look on the newstands if you think I'm making it up. After fishing a lot in my younger years, I got away from it during my 20's and early 30's. Got back into it about ten years ago. My wife and I have always had similar interests in sports, music, etc. and I think mostly she wanted to know what all the fuss was about when we got together with other couples and all the guys wanted to do was talk fishing.
She has always enjoyed the beach and the outdoors so she was anxious to give surfcasting a try. She got "hooked" when she battled and landed her first striper. She liked it for all the same reasons we men do - the anticipation, excitement of tight line, the thrill and sense of accomplishment after landing a big one (OK, I know what you're thinking, but I AM talking about fishing here). It has had some great benefits as well - easy to make that boat buying decision, fun vacations to Block Island, Martha's Vineyard and Florida Keys. Never have to worry about finding someone else to fish with on the boat. (Actually that's not really such a problem, but it provides great flexibility.) We have also enjoyed getting my stepson and daughter into saltwater after many years in freshwater exclusively. Some of her brightest smiles are pictutres of her with her catches. I would be remiss if I did not note that she has the family record for bluefish length. She is sometimes puzzled by the fact that the wives of my buddies express little or no interest at all in fishing. What can I say - I am a lucky guy! |
my wife isn't into the fishing thing yet but she is showing some interest. i think it's because she has never caught a fish and since she has only been once with me and didn't catch anything she still doesn't see the big deal but once i get her out there and she lands one (even though she says i'll have to take it off the hook for her because she won't touch the fish) i think she will understand and she will want to go more. She doesn't get in the way or try to stop me from fishing(she does call my cell phone alot to see how many i caught so far and i take that as a good sign) but i think it would be great if she went with me more and enjoyed it because then she would understand that big part of my life that is fishing and i'll always have someone to fish with i tried to explain to her but as you know till you catch a big one there is no understanding the thrill and excited anticipation of the next one that keeps us all going back for more.

I'm with Van, I'm keeping my mouth shut on this one!:faga:
|
those who took the 5TH
i can understand your reluctance to have your freedom compromised and there are plenty of times i like to be completely alone just by myself. I would hope that on occaision your better half has expressed a thankyou to you for providing a good meal of fresh bass for the family dinner table.:bl: :btu:  cheers!
|
Joe, I got a million pic's of her fishing, but most of them are with her "summer attire"...
|
If you and her are ever in Rhody look me up....I'll show you around in exchange for some photo ops....in regular wading attire....of course...Maybe some early morning fishing during the fall run.
Don't worry - I have not done anything dangerous since the mid-1980's..... |
Jim, I grew up in Narragansett-my father was a fisherman. I know a couple of spots, but thanks anyways for the invite.
|
another advantage
blackeye...... :) is that your wonderful fishing wife isn't clueless when your birthday rolls around and knows exactly what rocks your world in the fishing department ....yuh uh uh .... you know like: the whole line of smack-its all gift wrapped would make a wonderful late summer gift and cost around 50-60 bucks :D
|
for mothers day last year she got a custom schoolie rod and a fin nor ahab estima to match it, and for this christmas past it was a 9' custom lami from the boys at CMS. It's almost as fun as buying stuff for myself.
