Happy St. Patrick's Day. Leaving for the Gaelic American club in about 20 min. for cornbeef and Guiness!
|
Mmmmmm corner beef (one of the best ones I have ever made by the way) and cabbage....check! Watched the Holyoke parade on the tube...check! Only thing is washed it down with chianti instead of beer. Must be changing my ways as I get older! HAHA
|
Not sure what it is about corned beef n cabbage, but I produced enough natural gas today to heat my house for a year!

Cooked a nice cut of corned beef in Guinness:drool:
|
I had a couple Smithwick's and some Jameson's on a mini pub crawl in Quincy, then picked up some Chinese food on the way home.
|
corned beef
Well I married the oldest of nine.Yes she's Irish.
Not only is the fridge half full of salt meat but between the daughters invitations and Sweeties cooking I'll be able to swim on top of the water this summer from all the salt. PS I'm loving it though |

Spent the weekend ice fishing in NH, came home to a heaping bowl (not a plate) of "boiled dinner heaven" and a pint of Guiness.
The only way it could have been better would be if.....Oh, wait, it COULDN'T be any better!!!!:gu: |
If corned beef and cabbage is so good, how come most people only eat it once a year?
|
Cause it's a four hour ordeal.

edit: It's actually up on the WGBY website. I'll take her my laptop and let her watch it on that, or hook it up to her TV if I'm feeling industrious. Thanks again. |

I currently have 6 briskets in the freezer. I ususaly get 12, enough for one a month meals. We don't always do the boiled dinner, but corned beef sandwiches. Damn, now I'm getting hungry for a boiled dinner, and it's a meatless Friday in Lent!!!! If you want more proof why I plan ahead, check out the price of corned beef/beef brisket on any week of the year EXCEPT the week before St Patrick's and see what the price per lb. is compared to that one week. It will cost almost double, if not more if you want flat cut instead of point cut brisket. My bottom line is: If you have room in the freezer, you can get enough for the whole year, and only have to pick up the veggies to go with it. |
