Bruins/Pittsburgh
The Conference Finals!
Do the B's stand a chance against the talent-heavy Penguins? Will team depth outlast team skill? Will physicality win out over finess? Will anger and payback be enough motivation for the B's (Iginlia, Cook/Savard) This should be fun to watch! Predictions? |
My hometown loyalties want the B's to find a way to get it done in a long series.
B's have the edge in goaltending and defense, but the way the Pens can score goals is downright scary. Emotion says B's in 7 Reality is probably Pittsburg in 5 or 6. Hope emotion carries the day! Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
if the b's bring their heavy hitting- finish the checks- crash the net- and put the puck on the net game they will win in 6 or 7. they can't just skate with them and claude will push this point. if not it won't be a long series.
|
The Pens have goaltending issues. Vokoun has been erratic, and Fleury has been an absolute sieve. Put enough pucks on net, and they'll score.

Tuukka shuts out the mighty Pittsburgh offense in game 1! Could not ask for a better outcome. Series does not get won after one game so lets hope he B's continue to thwart their attack.
Crosby is a whiny baby! Cooke is a true villain. Go B's!!!!!! |
That game was very entertaining, so satisfying to shut them out. Tuukka time. :buds: I hope he can keep that up.
Our power play killing was huge, theirs was impressive how aggressive they are. Glad to see the Pens strategy of hitting us and trying to out physical the B's backfired and all they got was some iron and a puck barely slide across the crease. I doubt they will try to be hitting like that in game 2 but who knows. Props to Patrice for going at it with Malkin :btu: Now if Thorton can get on the ice while Cooke is out there, I'd like to see Cooke's head get knocked off. Crosby is definitely a whiner I thought the whole team contributed to this first game win and I think the coach did a great job, I hope they learn from it and can score even more next game. |
b's played agreat game. crosby is a whiney bitch. they said cooke changed- didn't look that way. betcha someone gets him in this series. lucic spend a lot of time deep in our d zone- paid a price but really helped out
|
I was hoping the big man was going to bust open his jaw...that would create some buzz. It could still happen but I would bet money that both coaches are instructing the players to avoid using your fists in this one.

Tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuka

Good game for Boston. Tuuka had the horseshoe, but was solid. Expect them to challenge him more by crashing the net. Also expect to see Lucic catch up with Neal in an open ice collision, after Neal leveled him from behind last night. Milan just looked up, took his number and kind of smiled.... Great to get a win, but was not a 3-0 performance. Pitt's PP should be able to win a couple games for them. Still not confident in a series win, but will be interesting if we get to 2-2...
|
Hopefully it will be Bruins in 6
|
Wow.... Just Wow.... 6-1 Bruins. Surgical precision. Dominating in all zones. Controlled their blue line. Tuuka immense. Wow...

The goals that were scored were sweet, nice to see the offence playing defense, but thos long passes of Pitt are going to come back to hurt, also Pitt from my eyes played a faster more aggressive game, following up checks etc. Granted boston won some key battles on the board (Jaga) and some face off's but i am not convinced Pitt is done.
1991 boston went up 2-0 and then loat 4 in a row. Lets hope history doesnt repeat itself. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
Stella D makes Pitts look lost.

Killer B's are looking real good right now.
|
can jagr control puck and setup guys or what. slow and old but smart as can be. imagine if he had a krechi, luccic, horton, bergi......on his line. b's played the best game of the year last night.
|
IMO 2 way hockey teams usually beat one way hockey teams no matter how good an offense they have. Keep it up and I got a good feeling about this series.

what an intense game! I'm exhausted just watching it, the players must be toast but relieved it's over :buds::buds::buds: 53 saves by Rask wow I predicted 37 would get it great play by that line I hope Campbells' leg ain't broke |
What a game glad I stayed up for the end.

Worth staying up late for indeed. Best game I have seen in quite awhile, probably ever. Tuukaa was insanely awesome. B's power play is horrible but their penalty killing is perfect, stopping this talented Penguins team every time. Two goals total for Pitts in 11 periods of hockey! Gotta say Pitt goalie pretty much stood on his head as well.
That had to deflate them so get out your brooms! :jump1: |
epic game. insane goaltending on both sides. b's won't be denied.
|
Friday Night...
Bruins should close it out...
|
i listened to it while i was fishing last night.... no amount of coffee would have provided the boost to help keep me awake for the dirve home that that last goal did...
|
I'm pretty tired today but the Bruins won so its ok.
It must really suck to be a Penguins fan today !!! Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
I have to reach pretty far back into my memory to come up with a better playoff performance by a goalie, than what Rask did last night. Even Dryden didn't face 54 shots from that B's machine back in 1971.
And to hold that offense to 2 goals over 11 periods (or at least 10 and part of an 11th), that's just incredible. No matter how good a D he has in front of him. |
That was an amazing OT performance...either team could have won. I had a hard time sleeping after that I was so jacked.
Campbell showed commitment with a capital B. |
May 4, 2000, rookie Flyers goalie Brian Boucher stopped 57 shots by the Pens in a 2-1 win in the 5th O/T. I guess that trumps Tuukka. He gave up a goal in the first three minutes of the opening period, and had 6-1/2 scoreless periods thereafter.
I knew there was a 5 O/T game in the not-too-distant past, and that was it. |
