Yeah you guys should and maybe come over for a couple burgers after. I'm right up the street from the albies most years. Buddy was out looking today and found nutin. I'll keep you posted.
Chris is spot on. Or these too:uhuh: I just finished this batch of Bling for the fall. We did good on them last year till we lost all the ones I made. |
Sweet looking Albie candy... I am so ready to catch some albies off my yak...
|
Based on last years reports it sounds like mid-late September is that about right? Lets do this!

Hey Jim. They are stainless, thru wired with lead inside. Built just like a wooden lure. I then put a coat of epoxy and pile on the glitter. The next day I put another coat of epoxy. I use system 3 clear coat as it hardens nice and hard. The little ones are new this year. They weigh 1/2 oz and the next size weights 3/4 oz and I got another larger that goes 1 oz. All plenty heavy for casting on 20 lb braid. I found that the albies really like the sparkles last year.
|
Wow..stainless with lead and epoxy??? and thru wired? That is a lot of work for a jig. They look nice though!
I pour mine from tin and they work great. But I just buff them with a wire brush and they look good for several seasons. When they get real tired I just recycle them and repour. |
Yeah a lot of work but I fit in the different operations thru out the year and I don't make 100's. Pretty much just for me and a few friends.

One of the lures we use is a simple diamond jig. Those 3 pack little ones at Bennys, West Marine. They're like a half and oz. We scored 23 bonito this summer with these over 3 days on vacation.

This upcoming week should reveal some good info. of what is in the area.
|
I am hearing of some sightings within 25 miles.
If the togging weren't so good I would be bummed. |
Some closer but still a mile or so and not real cooperative

sounds like the may be showing based on the other thread, should we plan something? If Albies are not around, we can always just scramble to another spot and look for black sea bass!
thinking next week.... |
yup, here. Next week would probably be a smart move.
|
Ok thinking about taking Friday off and hitting it, any interest?
|
Which Friday....Tomorrow or Next Week...Might be up for next week....tomorrow is a no can do
|
yeah next week, sorry, cant' do tomorrow either!
|
Let me see as the week approaches...may be able to pull it off
|
I might be in? Let me know which day!
|
It's not a scramble without ya Larry!
|
Lots of yaks out there today. I did not fish and fish are not spread everywhere but should be by next week which will give you some breathing room. I'll see if I can make it work. If I can't I can give you some intel at least. You geared up for Albies?
Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
I'm thinking about launching from Craigville next Tuesday morning around 7-8AM Anyone want to join me?
Thanks Paul... |
Not geared up at all! I think I am fine on tackle just not on lures...

Ok so how do you actually find the albies, is this all just chasing birds and bait around or can you set up in a location, such as an inlet and blind cast for them?
|
I see nuth thingggg! "Sgt. Clingger"
Made a quick run from Bass River CC to beyond Centerville this mid day...... :smash: |

Oh',,,, I don't know an Albie from a tunafish sandwich! But I've got some gear for um... :) |
Albies everywhere today but could not get one to bite. We launched Fairhaven to woods hole to pompenessett flats to hedge fence to oak bluffs to mid-nashon and back through woods hole to Fairhaven.

Probably passed right by you today Buzz. We found them along the Elizabeth Islands today with numbskull. Not tons but here and there as we bass fished. If I can get out in tin boat I may give it a go on Tuesday morn before I go to work. . I will look for you guys out there. I'll be putting in at East Bay.
as Far as set up I use 20lb braid with a 20lb fluro tied with a slim beauty knot. I use a stradic 5000. I tie direct to lure. I like small metal, my own, deadly #^^^^&s, maria lures, small crippled herrings. I luv 4 inch white sluggos if you are getting close to them. Better than metal as they stay in the strike zone longer. Most exhilarating, aggravating, fishing I know of. |

Albie Snax are also deadly... basically a red headed white 4" rubber (mini Hogy) with texas rigged hook... made by Longcast Plastics and sold at SW Edge and other B&Ts
|
Hey Chris I won't be going tomorrow. I am shooting for Wed. Good luck. Get on the water early.
