Yup. Its worth the effort. Top 10 IPA in my book. Competing with things like Pliny, Heady, Gandhi Bot, etc.

Let me know if you have trouble finding it past the weekend. I'll save a couple bottles for you.

No doubt. With that type of endorsement I HAVE to try it!

One strange corollary... On tap it seems to be inconsistent. I find that as good beer proliferates through more and more establishments, less attention is paid to those who spend the time to properly clean their lines and more time goes into wondering what is on tap. Nothing like a citrus fueled IPA to call your dirty lines out though.

I also have my concerns about the beer long term. They just announced its availability year round, so the "small batch" care and attention to detail might suffer. Either way, go get a six pack and let me know what you think!

Bridge Liquors said they might get some on Tuesday.

I spoke with a few shops and they said for most CT package stores, the shoreline, and more specifically shoreline closest to NYC gets beer first then it makes its way north. "Expected in a few weeks" was the answer I received from 2 of 4 package stores. I asked for two cases to be set aside :devil2:

Thanks for the suggestion Ian. I had a little trouble recognizing it with the new label but boy is that a very drinkable,year-round IPA!!!The finish doesn't really stay with you too long and has a nice citrus, grass and elderflower hint.

Found the Limbo - delicious.
Tried to figure out the taste and had to look it up - caramel malt - yummy.

Thanks Ian.

I'm definitely a fan of this beer. I went out in search of wormtown hoppy feet but they were out so I gave this a go. I thought it was excellent.

i was told the feedback has been so good on this beer that it will now be in regular Long Trail circulation.

spence 01-07-2014 11:02 AM

Perhaps I got a bad batch? Seriously, I tried it last weekend and it was a C-.

Did you have it in a bottle? I'd give it another shot Spence.
For a Northeast IPA this is good.

Yes in the bottle. Hoppy, citrusy but I thought it lacked a decent body and the hop signature was clumsy. Didn't like the finish as well. I didn't dump them out mind you, but was surprised given the reviews.

UPDATE:

First three 6 packs I got were amazing... lacked a little in staying power on the "back end" of a sip, but the hop profile was new and held its own flavor even when preceded by a more powerful IPA (sucks, gandhi, etc.)

The last couple I have gotten have been as dissapointing as the first couple were exciting... I had a hunch that the immediate attention this got might be a bad thing and I fear that might be the case.

As it stands right now, I wouldn't recommend this, and that is a shame, because the first couple batches they released really WERE delicious. I'll stick with Sucks.

I hope they go back and apply that "small batch" mentality to this again. Maybe dial it back from a year-round brew until they know they can maintain craft quality under high volume.

well in this case, I'm glad my order never came through. Thanks for the heads up Ian

Clogston29 01-19-2014 03:02 PM

Finally found some. I'm with spence on this one, though I'd go as high as a B. Good IPA but nothing special IMO. I'll drink what I got, but most likely won't buy it again. Much better options out there at same $ and availability.

It's at the top of my IPA list. Love it.

Rockport24 02-13-2014 11:42 AM

yeah I had the double limbo last weekend and it was pretty good, but anything tastes good after a day of skiing!

Dick Durand 03-06-2014 08:00 AM

Finally got around to trying the Limbo IPA and enjoyed it. Oddly enough, I was sitting at the bar at Rosa Flamingoes in Bethlehem, NH after a day of skiing, drinking a couple of Woodstock 4000 footers, when Rosa's owner began pouring complimentary samples for our group. The Limbo was a palate pleaser.
