I've been all over buzzards bay vineyard sound, and out to nomans southwest shoal many times in the last week or so and haven't seen any yet. Lots of bluefish on small bait no Albies yet....if I do see or hear of some I'll be sure to send you a pm Ross....

Thanks guys. Keep reports current here. I haven't targeted bass in weeks.... Went inshore cod fishing today. (Closes in a week) Was just my 9th time on the boat for the year:smash:.... Need something to get me interested in going to the Derby.

stripermaineiac 08-24-2014 08:25 PM

Hey Ross. When you gonna go over. i'm gonna be there for the whole thing. just retired gotta do some heavy fishin so give me a call an we'll have some fun Ron

wdmso 08-25-2014 08:30 AM

Went out today 0500 left Somerset Bait from somerset to Fogland lots of bait
pushed out passed the light house schuyler ledge to elbow ledge lots of birds sitting headed back in around 730 again bait bait and more bait birds were the only things on the bait was hoping for some blues on the return trip the 1fish did was at the ramp a retired guy caught a snapper blue

eelskimmer 08-25-2014 11:08 AM

Holy Sh--o, Ronnie has finally retired. Ross this is an
excellent reason to do the MV derby. If any off island
dude can catch fish there it is Ron McKee and he has
the stories to prove it. Plus he knows all the top rods
on the island. Now if only there were fishies there.
Tight lines guys.:buds:

Ross, I know our friend the Joker was "out catching zooms" the other day on FB

Rmarsh 08-26-2014 06:22 AM

Caught a few Bonito in BB yesterday.

bassballer 08-26-2014 11:38 AM

Nice Rmarsh. I was on them this morning. Dropped one, then couldnt weed through the massacre of bluefish. Tough when they are mixed in with a heavy bluefish population. Ill get my revenge tomorrow.

bart 08-26-2014 03:01 PM

Bill Fisher Tackle is reporting an albie caught "on the Cape yesterday and reports of them in BB". Take that for what it's worth...

wdmso 08-26-2014 03:15 PM

If any one care to point me a general direction Please PM me I may need to look towards the Islands As I stated when all the bait dumps out of the bay in the next few weeks it should prove interseting

Moses 08-26-2014 04:52 PM

Went out for a few hrs early Sunday in Nantucket Sound. Mid morning Albie blitz right off Osterville beach for a whole 5 minutes! My brother and I landed 3 then they were gone. Seas sucked too so we called it quits and headed back to Falmouth early.

PRBuzz 08-26-2014 05:11 PM

Nice 5 min adrenaline RUSH!

Nice, Mike.

ProfessorM 08-26-2014 06:27 PM

Nice Mike right in my back yard. Guess I need to bring down the funny fish stuff and get the tin boat gassed and ready. Can't wait.

saw a report of both A's and B's at Block today

trevier 08-30-2014 05:14 AM

one was caught in the canal yesterday, west end,

ProfessorM 08-30-2014 05:20 AM

So much, small, tiny, bait in canal right now I would not be surprised for a bunch to be caught in canal. They have also been very close to shore in other locations too.

Nice job Jay!!

ProfessorM 08-30-2014 01:52 PM

Found plenty but no real legitimate chances at hooking any. Actually I had one good chance but I blew the cast. Tough getting used to fishing light tackle.

bassballer 08-31-2014 08:50 AM

Yeah yesterday was tough. That hard SW made it tougher. Had a couple shots but no hook ups. Lots of bait, hopefully they show up local soon. My gas bill is getting heavy.

This might be a really dumb question, cause I know nothing about them, but do people eat them, or fish for the fight?

nightfighter 08-31-2014 10:00 AM

Cats wouldn't eat them..... If the bonefish is the fish of a thousand casts, then albies are the fish of five hundred casts. While blues put up a nice fight, they will hit anything. False albacore are much harder to find and get a hook up. Once you are able to do that, the fight is pure adrenalin drag burning joy!

Summed up nicely. The fight on light tackle is pure addicting. My wife was annoyed I've been fishing 7 days in a row, and all I could say was "it's funny fish time, sorry"
My favorite time of the season.

ProfessorM 08-31-2014 11:07 AM

A cape cod friend ate one I caught. Said it was alright but he eats lots of strange stuff. For me it is all about the breakneck speed fight.

My Greek neighbor ate one, has never asked for a second one! :)

When I lived in South Florida ... we were fishing a beach blitz that essentially every fish around (tarpon, snook, trout, blues, jacks, albies) ... a guy caught and kept both Little Tunny (False Albacore) and Jack Crevalle for eating ...would couldn't believe it, but he said he liked them and it was free food.

Sea Dangles 08-31-2014 05:53 PM

Talked to a Port at the tackle shop that says they aren't bad.....
