I am on a mission today to see a Snowy owl... headed up to Plum Island for several hours with camera and binoculars
good luck ><:ss:
A friend of mine lives in Fairhaven and has seen them on West Island already this winter.
last year in ct at nite owls would fly out into li sound and dive down and get ducks for a meal.

they consume two lemming's per day so where ever rodents are plentiful you'll find these owls |
Ya wanna see them chase a rabbit , Good thing there are bushes & brush ><>:eyes:

Not a snowy owl, but this eagle showed up in my backyard yesterday.
No luck at Plum Island for me.... I scouted the whole area and spoke with many hard core birders... There was a sighting at Salisbury the previous day
last year sachusset in newport was the spot, they were every where, already seen two there this season.
with all the rabbits and rodents there, im sure theyll be there all winter again. |
Never seen a snowy, but I'd love to. I'm thinking Gooseberry would be a good place to look? Some kind of owl scared the crap out of me out there one night last fall...

If you like to see a hawk or owls swoop down then attached a small length of twine to a mouse against a contrasting background.

Saw a snowy at the Misquamicut State Beach just after Christmas. It was sitting atop a telephone pole when I took my daughter there to practice driving. It was very brave and did not startle when we drove by time and time again. In fact while practicing parking we watched it swoop down to a puddle, take a drink, and then fly back up onto the pole. VERY cool
Last winter there was one that hung around the condos near the water slide all winter. I hear that Napatree has them too. |
