S-B site is the best!
I appreciate this site so much, the friends made here are real people who are some of the nicest people around. I also want to thank John for making it possible. I found this site more than 15 years ago and still check it just about every day, most time more than once a day.
I want to give thanks to a certain friend/fishing partner who stepped up to bat for me recently regarding a large purchase I made. He got me a large savings and I want you all to know how much it is appreciated. Good friends are hard to come by. Thank you! I won't mention any names but thank you again, you are VERY thoughtful. I sometimes am amazed at the things the members do here for each other. It is a great community we have here and I don't take it for granted. I try to give back when I can also, so thank you to all those who really care. |
Well said Slip!
Are you my Pal,can I get you a Fresca? Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
Yes siree lots of great caring people. The fishing aspect is a bonus.

I don't get on the site or contribute much anymore, but I agree with what ProfessorM posted. I've made lots of friends on this site and learned a ton from some really good fishermen. I miss the old days and some of the flame wars, but it's still a nice little online community. Thanks JR!

And 5/0, give me a call soon. I've got a tank full of eels waiting to be fed to stripers.

Most guys on this site are certainly worthy of anything you can do to help, because if anyone else ever need anything they'd all be in line to help.

I have also enjoyed the strictly heterosexual camaraderie of many of my fellow fishermen here on S-B! But seriously......my life has been enriched by S-B in so many ways! So many friends I have come to know and spend great times with and I hope it continues......forevah!!!!!:kewl:

I've met a lot of great people through this site as well and from a purely fishing standpoint, this site has some of best fishermen on the east coast IMO.

This site does so many good things on so many levels. First and foremost, it's a great source of information from the many great fisherman that interact here. Even though I have years in the surf, I'm constantly learning new tips, and tricks, that I can apply to my own style.
Secondly, it's a site full of just good, compassionate people who genuinely care about each other and are always looking to help each other out, during any struggle they may be enduring. I have been dealing with my wife's ongoing battle with breast cancer, and have had dozens of well wishes, and PM's from guys here offering us help. Many I know, or will soon, but some are just wishing us their best, or offering thoughts and prayers. We have been touched deeply by the support of everyone, thank you. Thanks to John for your hard work here, you truly have something wonderful. I will be a member here for many years to come, and thanks to all who make this site great. i find that fishermen are the most caring and sharing group out there. while we don't always agree :) we always come together when one of our own is in need. you guys are the best! and a big thanks to the bossman for running this place.

Without a doubt my favorite site! As far as the members here they are also great! A few years ago the warden gave me a 2 day pass to take a ride up and fish the Cape ( 20 years since my last trip). I sent a pm to a member that I was on they way. Upon arrival Chris (BT) met me and off we went for a great day, finally got to meet and fish with a great crew: Chris,Moose,Andy,Soups,Paul M. and even Skippy:uhuh:, got to finally meet Slip and Larry for a few minutes on another trip. Don't remember how many fish I caught but will always remember the great time I had!

I know with all our lives, craziness, and whatever else we deal with, things go by the wayside but, it'd be nice to have a cookout/ meet and greet again, in the summer with a little fishing in there. I've been to cutty, made some great friends on this site, but I think it'd be a great idea to do this again.
|
I've met and fished with some great guys and gals here, but miss some of the get together s we had in the past. Some of the cookouts and fishing get together's were a hoot and speaking of hoot(ers), miss the beer, wings and scenery meets. Sitting between Clammer and Habs bookends was always good for a laugh.

If I'm not mistaken, I was member 59. I had a real, visceral fear of bassmaster when I joined...mostly because I livelined herring.
The first member trip I went on was with Chris L and the specialist. Billy's car broke down at Bass Hole and we ended up fishing the jetty at West Dennis beach. I spent two great trips to Cuttty, thanks to Ross. They were good times. I was standing on Clammers boat right before he crushed his lower unit...I think he threw me off on purpose. I've met some great people, like Bruce M. (and Danny), Kevin J, Ross, TDF, Big Fish, Raven, 5/0. redlite, Krispy, Casey and Kacie, Clamma, striper ted (the Enforcer) and if I missed you I'm sorry. I would have never bought the $1000 of ice fishing gear that is in my cellar if it wasn't for the Fabbit's. The TFCTFN's are the best. I don't know if they make any money for John, but they really make me feel like I do something good. In short, this site got me through a two month off period that I had after knee surgery in 2000. Nobody takes things too seriously. Like Skip, I check the site every day. OK, that's it for me. I'm watching the Replacements documentary on Amazon TV. Love, Rick |
Rick how do you figure the number for member ship .......... We don,t get S B .cOM carry ID cards :eyes:

I agree 100% and I will do anything necessary to help out to make it/this happen because these kinda things are good for the sole. With that said there are waaay to many great replys to this thread they are all heart felt and true. I myself I needed some guidance this past spring with my Dads passing, and as a junky of S-B I visit this site on a daily basis, for updates of who what and where things are happing. Knowing a lot of you personally and some not yet I imposed on you all and asked for some help as I was just about at the end of my rope and turned to you for guiedance, direction and some spin to my troubling matters. What I received was replys,PM's & phone calls with support and sincerity to the point I showed my loved ones who I was being a rock for,but little did they know I also needed a cruch. The multiple PM's, support kind words from friends and some amazining support from complete strangers which gave me support and prayers were from the hart, I had shown these pms to my mom which brought her to tears but assurance, solitude and comfort knowing that there are many good people still left in this world. but most of all I know most of you.and my mom was happy to know that these guys(you)are the people I surround myself with. That ment the world to me and your thoughts brought me strength I didn't know I had within and I deeply thank you all for that! Bruce you as a true Craftsmen hit the nail on the head Buddy, great thread! With out this site you and I wouldn't have met, along with Paul M,Niko,Boss man,Fishbones, jonererfisher,Redcrabber,Nightfighte r,Bronko,Keepreaper,Throwingtimber,Krispy,Tlap,Nig htrider and of course Ricky (And I even returned your Gold braclet) good people, good friends I can trust and count on when in need. There are a bunch I still haven't met yet and can't wait to meet. 1st off Massbassman and Bluecrabber hopefully that day will soon come, you guys have been inspirational and a true stone in my Foundation during the past rough months the day will come soon that we will hook up and share a beer or wet a line . John you da man, thank you for all of your hard work I myself appreciate it. Thanks again all of you! As always Bobby AKA 5/0 Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
