What finish to use on hardwood floor

I have a set of oak steps to finish and I don't really want to use minwax fast dry polyurethane. Is there another available product out there that is an oil finish I can buy locally. These are new treads.
thanks for any help

Bruce, we did our floors before we moved in during 2004. Stained first with 2 parts cherry 3 parts mahogany. Then three coats of, get this, water based poly..... They have held up great. And I was very skeptical of the water based products.

Go with an oil based poly, my son just had his floors done and used oil based, 3 coats. A friend of his, same company, did the water based, took 6 coats and softer finish for scratches

use tung oil, I have 4 coats of it on my hickory floors.

yes I want to use oil poly but the paint stores, HDepot and Lowes only seem to have the minwax crap
I'm looking for real oil poly, I know I can get marine varish at a marine supply but I want satin finish

who locally sells floor oil poly?

I know the water based has come a long way but I don't want that
