color patterns...

anyone ever paint a carp pattern or a striped bass pattern? im going up to lake powell this spring and there arent many trout in the lake and i believe the main food source for the monster stripers are carp and small stripers. they also have gizzard shad. what do you guys think?

Based on what I see at other freshwater lakes with stripers, they are targeting the Gizzard Shad. They might hit other stuff if it comes their way, but probably 99% or more of their diet is Gizzards. Pearl belly, silver sides, green to olive back depending on the water. Gizzards are similar to Bunker (same family).
