I know I spelled his name wrong. I was told he owned the Red Top at one time and was good friends with Floyd Roman. Heres a couple of his plugs, sand eels. Any other info would be appreciated.

Skitter you crack me up. How about these? I was told the eel skins are Floyd Romans and the 5oz pencil was made by Jig Ray lures. The story is when John Gibbs found out that Jig Ray was making copies he threatend to sue and that was that

Nice jigs.... love how the hooks are set fairly close.... good thinking.

Bunny was more connected to Capn' Bill's lures than Floyd Roman. Bunny and Chester "Biff" McArdle ( any of you "canal Legends" remember Biff's Bait and Tackle? Didn't think so...) used to build the plugs (actually just assemble them, they were turned, painted and coated in NH) after Red Top acquired Capn Bills from the Schearer Brothers.

At one time there was a giant replica Capn Bills # 23 Swimmer mounted over the top of the building at Red Top. It rotted away was sent to the dump eventually.

You know what they say when you "ass-u-me". :D Naturally I remember Biff's shop. It's Choc-o-latte now.

Biff used to be the only guy my old man could get parts for his Quick from.

Biff was a nice guy,he would throw me out of his shop at least twice a year for messing with him when he had a few in him:cheers:

ya it was Bob Andrews, not to be cofused with jimmy Andrews, next town over. I can remember when jimmy took out a sports writerthat had a magazine article about pleasant bay and all the local guys got pissed and woudn,t talk to him. I think i can remember the army tents the Murat crew stayed in down the beach.Just about dark they would leave the tent, get in there beach cars and drive with there lights off so no one could see where they were fishing, late 40,s-early fiftys

Just an interesting footnote.

My Mom and Floyd Roman grew up together, and were next door neighbors as children in Three Rivers, Ma. My Mom's family moved to Worc when she was a teenager. It was some 45 years later, my Mom and Dad were sitting in their car on Bell Rd, and Floyd Roman pulled up along side and my Mom instantly recognized him.
