Too many non essential personnel in background for this to be the live feed, IMO.

Raven 05-02-2011 08:17 PM

meaning

only the military had the live feed then

buckman 05-02-2011 08:24 PM

I'm pretty sure that's a budget meeting.

isn't that Rahm to the left of Hillary, I thought he was Mayor of Chicago now? Maybe he just stopped in for a visit and Obama said, "hey Rahm, come in here ya gotta check this out, good to see ya, want some popcorn?" , it looks like someone just explained to them the "real" economic and unemployment numbers and what their policies and spending have actually done...

UserRemoved 05-03-2011 05:00 AM

After Uncertainty, a Moment of Triumph in the Situation Room: 'We've IDed Geronimo' - Yahoo! News

scottw 05-03-2011 06:13 AM

"we've ID'd Geronimo"?...this will not sit well with Native Americans

"We've IDed Geronimo," said a disembodied voice, using the agreed-upon code name for America's most wanted enemy, Osama bin Laden. Word then came that Geronimo had been killed. OH Boy

RIJIMMY 05-03-2011 08:04 AM

come on guys. Thats a great picture. this was a big operation and there would be a lot of people involved and present.
Im one of O's biggest critics but thats a great shot - reconcile that with Bush and the classroom picture when he was informed that a second plane hit the towers.

Back to my negative self- its extremely lame that he is going to ground zero to make a speech when he never bothered the make the trip on the anniversary. Thats pretty crappy.

fishbones 05-03-2011 11:45 AM

That is a great photo. It's probably going to be one of those historic images that people will see and instantly know what it was from.

On a side note, I heard Obama had to tell Biden that they were going to be watching Tommy Boy to get him down to the room in time to watch the feed.

I heard it differently. Obama told Biden to take a nap b/c they were going to be up late.

Thats not so Craig. Those people in this picture were part of ordering UBL's death. I give them credit for sitting there and watching it happen. I agree with Ross that too many people were in that room that really have nothing to do with fighting terrorism.

PRBuzz 05-05-2011 04:59 PM

Lucky to get another term?

At about 8:00 a.m. on Friday, just before he boarded a helicopter that would take him to tour tornado damage in Alabama, Obama called his senior aides into the Diplomatic Room. He told them his decision: A helicopter assault. At that point, the operation was taken out of his hands. He was trusting the fate of his presidency to luck. He was putting his presidency in the hands of history.
