The Byrds

I saw Roger McGuinn on a PBS special about folk music the other night and I forgot how much I liked their live versions of songs. I also saw him at Salt in Newport in the early 70's. The ones on the radio were too commercial and way overplayed. They had a couple of different lineups but this was a good one.

Saw that special also! Great folk music on there!! Favorite "Byrds" tune....."My Back Pages"! Bob Dylan wrote some great tunes and this is a favorite!

Being a bluegrass FANATIC, I love the cross over of the Byrds with Earl Scruggs. Look at Clarance White on guitar and Randy Scruggs doing some hot flat pickin'. Clarance White was the origin of the Tony Rice style. If you listen to Clarance flat pickin' on the old Kentucky Colonels stuff you can hear where Tony got his licks.
