Crap beer

Lots of threads about good stuff but what about the crap you used to throw back when younger. Red dog, ice house, crazy Indian (politically correct), bad frog, bud ice, natty ice. I've got the #^&#^&#^&#^&s just thinking about it.

Nebe 01-25-2013 09:33 PM

Natty light. Genesee ( I went to school in Rochester NY). Bud light. Yuck

Back in the day. We had a friend who's dad had a wall, and I mean a wall of Dog Style and Dog Style Lite 12 packs at the ready...we hung out there a lot.

Iron City, Piels, Knickerbocker, and those listed above. Nebe's got the worst with Genesee, though. I remember going to 25 cent keg parties at Syracuse in the early 90's. there was a reason they only charged 25 cents.

Mississippi State is in Starkville, MS which is a dry county. you could only get hot beer unless you wanted to drive 20 mins there and back to columbus.
The popular theory was if you have a cooler of ice and spin the beer in the ice with your hand it got colder faster... redneck technology. Nothing like crackin a luke warm natty ice to take the edge off game weekend in 100 degree heat....:yak5:

Something that I would only admit to friends is that I could grab a can of Bud and pretty reliably tell you which plant it came from. Especially Newark or Jacksonville, and most times B'ville or Merrimack too. Scary the thought. Plus some much worse needless to say.

Olympia(aka Oly). Its was actually on sale for less than a $1 a rack at the base mini-mart back in the mid 80s.

Lone Star and Pearl Light were equally cheap and nasty. They both(at the time) had breweries in San Antonio.

I forgot about that, too. In college, we used to go to a barber near campus and if you were over 21, he'd give you a Golden Anniversary while you were getting your hair cut. You might get a second if you could find Waldo in those Where's Waldo books.

freshman year we used to drive up to nashua and buy as many 30 packs of red dog as my buddy's car would carry for $9 each. we'd sell them in the dorms for $30 each. had some friends on the hockey team, we used their bags to smuggle them in, nobody questions hockey players at northeastern. great system, we drank for free all year.

Saltheart 01-28-2013 04:47 PM

Nothing wrong with gansett GIQ's!! :) Them and hoffenreffers were the best bang for the buck in the early 70's

National Bohemian, Schaefer, Old muddy, and Bush were typical. Mickey's Big Mouth was a treat. Once I got to college there was alot of black label and American light. yuck.

RIJIMMY 02-07-2013 01:21 PM

Busch is what got me through my teens and early 20s.

Jackbass 02-07-2013 03:16 PM

Meister Brau stuff was ass in a can. Before PBR was cool I distinctly remember having an exorcist moment on PBRs chocolate cake and mushrooms at a 21st birthday out in western ny
