There are approximately 174,000 blue-collar, full-time, permanent jobs related to coal in the U.S.


There are 61 commercially operating nuclear power plants with 99 nuclear reactors in 30 U.s




Power plant operators, distributors, and dispatchers held about 50,400 jobs in 2008,


this is not the same as saving the auto industry which employee 2 million on the dealer side and a little less than a million in manufacturing

Pretty sure they are referring to the national security part of the equation and the vital importance it is to have a strong and diverse power grid in case of natural disasters or other means disrupting the power grid.

But I am sure certain someones will show me the error of my ways and explain how diversity does not make strength..... ;)

Just claim national security seems to be all they do.. it won't bring back coal and nuclear is a huge not in my back yard issue... but they won't renew solar tax credits or support renewable sources they don't want diversity they what to take care of donors
