We went to the Island for a day trip on the ferry Saturday
There were 30+ (I counted) drifting in a cluster maybe 1/4 mile diameter, just off the end of the west wall. No one fishing, just waiting.
That looks about as fun to me as root canal.

A couple of boats were smartly away from the pack, presumably trolling to locate the school

bassballer 08-29-2016 10:21 AM

It was awful last week. Weekday too. Tins everywhere!

I got there way earlier as there was only one other boat when they busted around us. I was out of there and over on Brenton by 7:30 AM

wdmso 08-30-2016 02:58 PM

went today Huge swell went South and west a few pods here and there just no way to get in them maybe 6 casts all day no big feeds not much bait in the area saved the day with a 5lb 25 in fluke

Rockport24 08-30-2016 03:03 PM

honestly the whole ablie/bones things seems to be getting worse every year based on these reports (in terms of number of boats and crazy chit happening)

ProfessorM 08-30-2016 07:12 PM

Put a beating on sbft today with gear for bones, they ate epoxy jigs for hours. Followed it up with some very productive pot hopping!

Sounds awesome Chris, drags must have been screaming

Sea Dangles 08-31-2016 08:11 PM

25# fish with big skipjack mixed in made this the best light tackle trip of my life. We had 77* water within sight of land that was swarming with pelagic life.

made the milk run from Watch Hill to PJ and back yesterday- place was pretty vacant of life. had a small bloofish topwater bite early on, then scratched out a few more fish here and there.

didn't even think we saw a hardtails anywhere in 7 hours.........
