Nice work Christian...I ought to know!:D How did that hammered gold work for you? I am looking for a good rattle can gold. I use the hammered silver alot.:D

Christian 02-25-2005 06:43 PM

everything is also all pearled out with interference blue, and a couple with green also. this is one of my better batches and my needles are alot better than last years. both in paint and in function. i spent a loooong time getting them weighted the way i wanted.

the hammered gold is SWEET. go easy on it though, one light coat and its done.

BigFish 02-25-2005 06:44 PM

Eye location ?

I am curious why are the eyes installed so far back on the plug? Great looking plugs. Thanks P.M.

I do that on needles too. My feeling is that the fish will hit for the eyes and the hook is right there. Just my humble opinion though.

Christian 02-26-2005 06:48 PM

i like the way it looks.

-on the actual fish, the needle fish, the eyes are set back pretty far, because the mouth is so long on them.

i just wanted a nice medium sized sandeel though :)

Very Nice Work, as usual Christian.

Hook and eye placement on needles, each builder has is own reasons, I guess. I have noticed a trend lately, to move the eyes, and belly hook more to the middle, as opposed to the more traditional front third of the plug. We all know what the sand eels looks like, and where the eyes are on them. I am attaching a photograph of an Atlantic Needlefish.
Put the eyes and hooks where ya want to
