applying finish

if you apply finish to the wrapping's i understand how the rod dryer supports work, but when you apply finish to the entire rod how do you support the rod. it seems to me that if you use the supports it will be rotating on a wet finish, sorry for this stupid question i'm new to rod building.

You will either leave a section between guides unfinished and support the rod there.
Or if the rod is stiff enough you could support it at the tip & or grip section

thanks mike for the info, if you do leave a section unfinished to support the rod do you go back later and finish that section?

you do go back and finish that area , wait a couple of days for the first sections to cure first.
