Batteries
if I charged up my dual batteries & left the switch on [ON} & both were dead < then charged them again & took the charger off but left it on all again .will a dead battery kill the other ??? that,s what seems to be happening ..
|
I think if you have plates shorted out in the bad battery it will
Actually, even without shorted plates, if the bad battery won't hold a charge it will also drain the good one down to nothing. |
tHAnks Joey .that, s that,s happening . CJ is telling me when one goes its time to replace both . && of course I can,t remember when I put them in ,
jay put in today . I can see no pool this year which is fine . But those boaters are still gonna party harty on the docks . one croup is doing already . Jay went in today your going to C dock ..ya can check out the 25.10 Parker that on dock . [d] has a brand new Sea Scout ><> I won,t bust ya balls if you make contact :whackin: |
what if after I charge
.if I turn the switch to off will the good battery stay charged until I can swap the bad one ?????
|
With the switch off Id say both bats are isolated from each other and everything else on the boat unless u have a dedicated feed to the bilge pump...
I was told 5 years is normal bat life.... Today was a beauty out there |
RAY .I KNOW but my brain had the ass to I did nothing
..
ya think commercial eel traps will work well for greenies
. the commercial ones I can get up here are so large they have runners on the bottom
three day set with two pots today .1 green & no Asian ><>

Both batteries are wired in parallel so if you want to saved the good battery from losing voltage disconnect the positive terminal from the bad battery until you get a replacement. It is possible the bad battery has a corroded terminal and not charging properly, cleaning the terminals with a wire brush and charge both batteries, see what happens. I write the date I buy the batteries on them with a sharpie... An ACR is a worthwhile investment and install... no more playing with battery switches, both battery stay charged.

whats a ACR ???
|
LOL.. IM GLAD U ASKED...
|
Automatic charging relay..what they do is combine batteries during charging once the primary battery reaches 13.7 volts, they will drop out around 12.2 so the bulk charge goes to the primary.. they've the best, most practical way to eliminate charging issues on outboard

Basically both batteries are combined for charging when engine is running. Then separate once engine is off. One battery for starting, one for everything else

if the boat is wired that way . with a switch if you leave it on both , don,t they both change ????
|
I use battery one one day and # two the next,,, never both.... dont know why I just do .... :bounce:
