Gophers Pest Control | Moles Burrowing Rodents @ Rodenator

I gotta get me one of these.....hmmmm I got a propane torch.......:devil2:

Bronko 06-20-2010 11:47 AM

Me too Salty. Everyone I talk to has seen a spike in their numbers this year. Wonder if its part of a super breeding class or something. I am almost overrun by them.

UserRemoved1 06-20-2010 12:29 PM

just got in from setting up 2 BOD (bucket of death)

2 gallons water....a ramp laced with peanut butter and corn/sunflower seeds...

and a cleverly placed aluminum plate "diving board" balanced on the edge of the bucket...just far enough not to reach....

WHAMMO Uncle Salty's coming for you %$%$%$%$ers LOL

UserRemoved1 06-20-2010 12:31 PM

Damn things are running around my garage. Only a matter of time before one is in the house then i'm screwed. BOD got me two mice already no chipmunks. Kept finding the ramp on the ground and all the seeds eaten.

Rodents

Photo needed of BOD. I had to rebuild an brick walk because of one of these little Bas****s.

Help Please

UserRemoved1 06-20-2010 04:38 PM

5 gallon homer bucket....fill to the top of P in paint with water...

30" piece of wood ramped to top from ground...tape to bucket so the %$%$%$%$ers can't kick it off....

fill the water with seeds-they will float....you don't want to see water....it takes about 2-3 quarts of seeds at each "refill"

Put a 4"x8" piece of metal I used aluminum balanced on the bucket top....peanut butter and seeds on the plate...far nuff away that they have to jump over to it. powee gone. LOL

no camera at home so no pics sorry. friggin pets bastids probably targeting my house for bombs now

I thought your rodent problem was The Skunk. :grins:

I've got a bunch of chipmunks living under my deck and my shed. I need to get rid of them soon. I've filled their holes with rocks but they just dig a new hole around it in a few days. Last year I used a powder that seemed to keep them away. I can't remember the name, but it was in a blue cannister and was made out of pepper to keep critters away.

RIJIMMY 06-21-2010 10:41 AM

ouch, that hurts.......

Let me know when you want to go out after work some night. You may not catch anything, but fishing with me always makes other people seem like better fishermen because I suck so bad.

FishermanTim 06-21-2010 11:05 AM

If they seem like they're increasing in numbers, it's because they are!
Just like there are more squirrels this year.
If we have a wet and warm spring, the squirrels, chipmunks and most other rodents will breed more than once, and start ealier than usual. The reason is an ample supply of food, mainly seeds and berries. The forces of nature will take their toll as the number of predators increase as well, and finally when winter comes again, they will not all survive.

We go through cycles like this every few years.

works like a "charm"

i have no trouble catching them at ALL

i use the smallest have -a -hart trap

i use half a slice of bread that's been spread with
peanut butter ...then ....I take black sunflower seeds
and mush them into the peanut butter for bait.

the door with the straight rod is the one i keep closed.

but first, i open it halfway and slide the 1/2 piece of bread
into the exact center just behind the door.

i then close it and lock it.

i set the trap against something so that the trip lever
is less accessible sitting on just half of the flat or 2/3rds
of the trip tray lever. they have to crawl over it to get to it.

i place a couple of small stones outside the lock catch
on the propped open door
and one larger one or maybe a brick on top of the
trap to keep-er steady.

it sometimes only takes ten minutes to catch them this way.

i even caught a squirrel in that lil ole trap the other day. :uhuh:

After trapped place the whole trap in a plastic trash bag and attach opening to the exhaust pipe of a car/truck, start her up, and fill the bag with that nice odorless gas! Come back in an hr or so and have your moment of victory (or silence).

If you use a trap small enough that they can't raise the tail, THEY CAN'T SPRAY YOU!

Relocated several this way. Shoulda seen the folks at my school bolt when I carried the trap in, complete with black and white kitty.:rotf2:
