Reel question

Want to get a couple of good tuna setups. I prefer Shimano and am considering either an Tiagra 80 or a Talica II. The talica is much lighter (better for standup) and has the same drag capability, but less line capacity and more $.

I would likely go with hollow braid which will provide plenty of line on either.

Any thoughts?

For stand up I'd rather be using the talica. The 80 is a big reel and prob more suited for giant fishing out of a rod holder. Both great reels

If we did hook a giant, could the talica handle it from a rod holder? Assuming some boat handling help along with it...

If you hook a giant on a stand up setup, you are way better off fighting it standing up. With a short rod and fighing belt you can put a ton of leverage on a fish.
Rod holder fishing is much different with longer rods and way more drag than the average person could handle.
If you want to chase giants get 130's if you want to stand up get 50's
My advise is start small and go shark fishing for the best standup fighting practice on very large fish.

Either 25 or 50. 50 is a lot more $, but probably what I will get.
