Star Rods.. Any good vs St. Croix
I love my St. Croix's and my pos 3500 baitrunners loves to sit on a 8.5 ft salmon rod for plugging but I have a chance to get a Steller Lite rod for half price. The rod feels great but are they any good?? I gots to know.....Thanks.

The stellar rod is a decent production rod. Fuji hardaloy guides, Fuji seats, 5 year limited warranty, cork tape.
I also have the 8 ft. stellar lite and recently purchased two Star Delux rods (e-glass). The Delux rods that I acquired directly from Star were the last two of a special production run. They are the same type that Steve Mckenna used for his sluggos. |
I have the Star Stellar Lite PG1525ISM for 5 seasons now. Great blank, guides falling apart now, but I absolutely abused this rod. Lists at 99.95 and bought 2 at the old Gaylans for 70 bucks a piece with coupons. Swapping over to some Alconite Guide I have lying around to abuse some more. Used for trolling tubes off my kayak and some bottom fishing.

I have a 10' Star Nicklelite w/ VS 200.
Iight, good gathering guide. served me well. had to go to DE to find it. looked at the 9' guides were too small for me, so i passed. unfortunately, neither rod is made any longer. recently picked up a new Ron Arra 10' for $150. anxious to see how it performs against the Star. gw |
I own three of them, Stellar lights. All 7' 6" models, two are heavy
action and 1 is med. Some of the best rods I've ever used . Work great along the rock ledges that I fish, handle large fish withough any issues. |
