LOCKY

We recently got hit by a nasty piece of ransomware.

Someone opened the door and it snuck right in. Now it's raising its ugly head by disguising as an email you sent yourself with and attachment named "Document"...and variations of that name. We're also getting emails that appear to come from our accounting department with an attachment from the IRS.

Be careful with what you click on. Could put you in a world of hurt.
All files have been encrypted and are currently being held for ransom.,,,,,,,:drevil:

I really like these two malware detection removal programs. Malwarebytes.org and Spybot Search and Destroy (from safer-networking.org) with Teatimer always running will give you an alert any time any program is trying to make any changes (ie install the darn encryption ransomware). It asks "this program is attempting to run/do this... " and you have to say yes or no.

Ransomware is very bad stuff as it is just about impossible to get any of your data back without paying for that decryption key program.

best policy is to never open any attachments unless you are expecting them and know what they are. If you think it may be important but are not sure, you can always call the person to verify.
