Nothing that Harry Reid says suprises me. When asked why the healthcare bill needed pork in it to pass, Reid said that is how Washington works. We all know that, why promote it? Why not try to stop it? It is only our money, we shouldn't support pols that work that way. I am voting for Scott Brown. I have on good authority that Martha is the love child of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.

don't forget the first black president...Bill Clinton, and his quote in the book

"a few years ago, this guy(Obama), would have been getting us coffee...."

oh, if only he'd been quoted as saying ...shining our shoes

it was a dumb thing to say, but in my mind no big deal. I heard on the news this morning that something like 30 states have "negro" on the census form. Although I think its a negative term, apparently its still used. As much as I'd like to see Reid bounced out on his arse, this is petty and we need to move on.

It wasn't a big deal because he just used the word, it's that the context for his comment was that Obama could win because he wasn't really all that black.

I expect more out of someone in that position.

looks like politics as usual...

Washington (CNN) -- The Congressional Black Caucus said Sunday that it had accepted Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's apology for a newly published remark he made about Barack Obama during the 2008 campaign and dismissed calls for the Nevada Democrat to step down.

Earlier in the day, the chairman of the Republican Party and a leading GOP senator had called on Reid to give up his post.

"Over the years, I have had an opportunity to work with Majority Leader Reid," Rep. Barbara Lee, chairwoman of the caucus, said in a statement.

"Senator Reid's record provides a stark contrast to actions of Republicans to block legislation that would benefit poor and minority communities."

Reid was already trailing by 10 points in polls before this comment became public. He may not be stepping down, but he'll most likely be gone come next election.

RIJIMMY 01-11-2010 03:25 PM

reid - gone, dodd - gone
hmmm, I think hope and change are in the air!

basswipe 01-11-2010 06:11 PM

Its amazing how quickly Reid's comments get dismissed.

If the same statements had been issued by a republican there would be complete insanity right now.

Reid got away with a lame apology that would have never been tolerated if that same statement and then aforementioned apology had been made by a republican.

Y'all know it to be true, now y'all just gots to admit it!(Was that negro or redneck dialect?I can't tell.)

no accountability for the New Axis of Evil :rotf2::rotf2:

remember this?...

Pelosi on the CIA: “They Mislead Us All The Time”

But Speaker Pelosi did not confine the question to the reliability of memory. Instead, she made the allegation last week that the CIA intentionally misled her -- misled Congress -- and not just once, but routinely.

“They mislead us all the time,” she said.

She charged that the CIA, deliberately and as a matter of policy, violated the law by lying to Congress.
if you recall...she determined when the controversy was over:uhuh:...

and of course.."the Cambridge Police acted stupidly"..he had a beer

these a holes do and say whatever they want, they know that their loyal supporters are too stupid to ever hold them accountable....do you think it's a coincidence that Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barak Obama, Chuck Bitch Schumer, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Henry Waxman, Charlie Wrangle, Barbara Boxer, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, John Edwards, Al Sharpton, Alan Grayson, Patrick Kennedy, Sheldon Whitehouse, Howard Dean, John Murtha, are all in the same party?...and that's just a short list of a few of the high profile dirt bags....
