Movie for Today.. The Departed

There might have been a thread on this movie. I wanted to see it in the theatre.. but missed it.. Watched it last night.. Pissah Movie.. loosely based on the Winter Hill Mob.. A lot of Bahston area Irish humor buried in there.. great dialouge.. I actually watched it twice, and was glad I did.. missed a lot the first time.. the under cover aspect is great, from both perspectives....

Happy St. Paddys Day...

The Departed

Its an awesome movie as you say from every perspective.

keeperreaper 03-17-2007 11:09 AM

It was the best film I've seen a while

daceman63 03-17-2007 11:26 AM

My buddy made me buy it and I watched it last Sunday night. Great Movie!!!! There were a few surprises and that was refreshing as most movies are almost totally predictable. Not this. (at least I didn't find it to be)

fishonnelsons 03-17-2007 03:36 PM

It's on the Comcast line-up and I can't wait to watch it - just have to squeeze it in between NCAA hoops.

spence 03-17-2007 03:38 PM

Very good movie. Although given the behavior of some of the characters, I'd be a little embarrased if I was a member of the Mass State Troopers.

I was a little confused by the State Trooper's role (Matt Damon). Seemed as if he was actually portraying FBI agent John Connelly rather than a Statie. From what I've heard and read it was the Mass State Police who were working hard to take down Whitey but were hampered by the Feds. I know at least one Statie was indicted in the whole deal but he seemed to be more of a background figure. No mention of a politician brother either. The movie was really good but if you expected to see the Whitey Bulger story this wasn't it.

Anyone else catch Boondock Saints on TV last night? It was edited for television but it didn't matter to me. I was hammered for St. Patty's Day!!

The Dad Fisherman 03-18-2007 07:52 PM

I was going to watch it last night but TCM had "HUD" on so I ended up watching that.....great Flick

TCM is a great channel :kewl:

redneck24 03-19-2007 05:27 AM

GREAT movie! except for matt damon, he has to be the worst actor in the world, i think chuck norris is better

taJon 03-19-2007 05:46 AM

I'm still waiting for netflix to send it to me..........hurry up already would ya.

Bigcat 03-19-2007 06:18 AM

Great flick, saw it the day it opened:) but it is a remake of the movie infernal affairs. If you can find them rent them it is a four movie set.

NIB 03-19-2007 07:18 AM

NIB give's it 2 thumbs up..

wheresmy50 03-19-2007 07:30 AM

It was good (7/10), but if Scorcese didn't win it all for Goodfellas, I don't get why he won it for this movie. I guess they like all those little twists.

Nicholson was weak. Marky Mark did well.

ThrowingTimber 03-19-2007 09:12 AM

a Great flick, the elevator I was like HOLY CHIT!!!!

Goodfellas did blow Departed away. Nobody does the mob like DeNiro and Pesce "Ma, can I borrow this knife?"

mosholu 03-19-2007 12:38 PM

Best movie I have seen for a while. I though it was funny that marky mark was nominated for an Oscar for playing a Boston thug.
