Girl with Dragon Tattoo

I watched the triology and they were all excellent. Coming out soon is Girl with Dragon Tattoo American version. I really enjoyed the originals and not sure if I should watch the American version.

Anyone already watch the originals still going to watch the American versions? I am afraid I will be disappointed.

I watched 2 of the originals. Both were pretty good. Doubt the American version will be as good.

Thanks, Paul. Now when people say I have an easy job I'll tell them I know a guy who watches movies when he's supposed to be working.

My slow time of year. I've actually painted all the baseboards and windows over the last 2 months :biglaugh:

Just watched all three in the last 24 hours. I really liked them all with the first being my favorite. The US version has gotten some excellent reviews, especially for the cinematography....I'm going to have to give it a try.

The Dad Fisherman 12-23-2011 10:18 AM

Just watched the 1st one last night...excellent flick...going to try the to get the other 2 in this weekend as well.

Watched the 2nd one last night....another good flick. hoping to see the 3rd one this week.

PaulS 12-27-2011 11:06 AM

Saw it a few nights ago. Very close to the Swedish version. Infact, they may have even used the same island and houses?????

bart 12-27-2011 07:29 PM

I just came back from seeing the American version. I never saw the originals or read the books(contemplating doing it now), but I thought the movie was awesome. Great imagery and Trent Reznor doing the music was killer (dark and ominous like you'd expect). Can't wait for the next one....

Oh for anyone who doesn't know, definitely NOT kid friendly....

Around this time last winter I read the trilogy in hasty time. While I didn't see the Swedish versions, I did see the American release yesterday and enjoyed it. Great scenery, acting, soundtrack, casting, textual integrity. Swedish influence, of course, but seemingly made with more of an European flair than the usual Hollywood production.

That's cool. I had not read the books and I tend not to watch too many subtitled films. It certainly looks good with the ads and trailers. Those Swedes - very intellectual society - all those months of darkness and cold make for a lot of indoor people who read a lot. We won't mention the suicide rate though.

Intro

Love the intro, killer version of this song. Way better in the theater...
Karen O, Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross: "Immigrant Song" (from The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) [HD] - YouTube

It's out on HD on youtube aswell, with better picture and audio quality.

I thought the american version was better than the original swedish one, enjoyed both though.

Not too sure about the other movies, it will be hard to make them as good mainly because the story just isn't there imho.

basswipe 03-25-2012 07:11 AM

I've now seen both and I'm in the minority here.American or Swedish neither was very good imo.

PRBuzz 04-29-2012 04:46 PM

Swedish version (#1) is much better than the American IMO, even having to read subtitles.
