Hybrid table saws
 

Looking for one for my basement. Called three places today and no one had any in stock and won't till after the first of the year they said. :huh:

Old American iron
Usually there are some single phase cabinet saws there someplace. An old Powermatic sometimes go for 300 to 500, way better quality than new unless you are willing to pay big bucks for new higher quality.
Even an old Delta Unisaw is worth looking at.

I agree, I couldn't imagine using anything other than a powermatic 66.

Wait, do you go by a different name on the other site? Gray Gables? Can't believe I have connected the dots over all the years.....

I checked his site tonight. Going to call him first thing to see if he actually has that powermatic one in stock. A cabinet saw is just to big to get in my basement. I'll keep you posted on how I make out.

Not being a professional carpenter, I have no idea what the F&*** you guys are talking about.
I have a table saw. I have a Miter saw. I even have a radial arm saw. What is a hybrid saw???

A hybrid table saw is a stationary table saw, built to look like a more expensive cabinet maker saw, with the motor inside, but with internals more like a less expensive "contractor saw". So it's a hybrid between a cabinet maker saw and what was traditionally known as a contractor saw.

I know what you mean about getting equipment down a bulkhead to a cellar, I did that long ago before I built my shop. The cast iron top comes off so it makes it a bit easier. Lay some plywood in the steps and lower it down slowly. Once it is there it is worth it.
I think Sawstop makes a contractor version. Check those out too

no powermatic saws at all in stock. They come straight from the manufacture I've learned. Only saw in stock is the sawstop one. Still mulling over purchasing one.

House we been working at homeowner has sawstop that about 2 yrs old. Used it when our workhorse rigid died (replaced with a makita)
Sawstop is a very nice saw. Excellent fence for clean precise cuts and ripping. Not a fan of the makita so far

I looked into the rigid contractor saw myself. How did you like that saw?
