LEDs for shop light question
I have a number of twin fluorescent lights throughout the shop and am considering going to LEDs. Am I better off replacing the whole lamp with the bulb? I brought a 4' LED bulb home and it seems like surgery to convert my existing to accept it.....

are your existing lamps T8 or T12?

Have you thought about led strip lights, they are really inexpensive and run on 12V.
They are very bright and come with a remote control to dim and change color. You can buy a 5 meter roll soup to nuts for $15 on the web. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
Had no idea that LED was available for the 4 footers. Thank Ross,,, I've been struggling trying to see while rod wrappen. Picked one up at HD to try it out,,, I'm in! brighter and a better light, I could see a big difference with just the one bulb,,, plug and play also.... No fuss no muss, pull the old one out plug the new one in...
Cons..... $$$ 22 bucks for the one bulb : :af: |
Thought I saw the 4' bulbs at HD for $10-11?

Now u tell me! LOL

I picked up two complete 4 foot units with led bulbs included at BJs for 34.00 each.
|
These made such a difference that I am waiting for my brother to deliver three additional lights I had him pick up for me on his BJs run. Made by Lights of America 5000 lumens. Just what I needed. Excellent upgrade. Should be over all rod wrapping and plug turning areas....

Picked up two 4' led shop lights from ocean state job lot for $20 each, wow what a difference!!
I'll have to look up the specs but made a huge difference instantly Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
I just hard wired my whole cellar last weekend what a difference.
|
Ocean State it is, thanks Chef!

I got a bunch of the greenlightdepot bulbs to convert my fixtures over, they work great and are bright but one huge problem. They interfere with radio causing loud buzzing but the further away from the receiver, the better so I can use them way out back in my finishing room at least.
I may have to try the complete units to see if those interfere also so I can change the rest of the shop, although I have a ton of replacement flourescent bulbs on hand. |
How about going to electronic ballast to stay flouresant
|
I grabbed one at Ocean State tonight and it is fine, dies not interfere with radio so I will grab the other 2 they had tomorrow
