Driverless cars
So Obama just pledged tens if not 20's of billions of dollars to the car industry to promote driverless cars.
Why should tax money go to helping corporations develop new products?!?! |
Talk about texting while driving ,,,, no worries mate, the car will stop by itself :spin:

Sounds boring to me. I'd rather drive

What happened to the Green Fuel revolution? Fusion (OK, so a stretch)? Both parties are beholden to those that pull their strings, not the American citizen as it should be and as it was designed to be. |
he should give that money to GE so that they can develop a cookerless stove...now that would be a great use of tax dollars
|
I agree Nebe . I hate this sort of " investment " . If there's money to be made in it they will develop it themselves. Google doesn't deserve our hard earned dollars being given to them . When you're broke, driverless cars are pretty much the bottom of the priority list .

Was it a pledge to the Auto Industry or to Google who is a Democrat donor and the closest to driverless technology???
Crony Capitalism!! Let's see: Solyndra big donations=no interest defaultable loans and the company moves to China, UAW donations=first in line ahead of secured bondholders for GM Bailout Money, Drug Companies "help" with PPACA and their high level executives move freely back and forth from Gvt jobs to the companies they came from making policy on both sides, there are many more I am sure but here are some shining examples of how the Democrats help "the people".. If the technology is sound it will stand on its own.. |

I'd think this kind of investment can be beneficial to ensure the government is able to encourage innovation aligned with national standards that may not even exist. Ideally it's a win win. |
How about 3.9 Billion over 10 years to incentivize jobs in the USA?
If you can 4000k of subsidies and into the workforce isn't that better? |

Americans are great at automating things, it's a big reason the middle-class manufacturing job segment has shrunk. Innovation led manufacturing is a great way to encourage job growth...you can't automate what hasn't been done before. |
We are only Nineteen Trillion in debt, gutting our military while we are being threatened,
why not throw in moving side walks to take us to the shovel ready jobs. Insanity. |
[QUOTE=spence;1091328]How does this money not provide incentives for new jobs?QUOTE]
Remember Solyndra spence and over 500 million guaranteed loan( jobs gone)...and Fisker hybrid car manufacturer(jobs gone) companies used the 1705 federal guaranteed loan program and now there R over another 14 billion tax dollars under obama in the energy field at risk of bankrupt....so tell me where is the job incentive with our tax money....these energy companies could not get a loan from traditional banks so they go to the suckers the federal government and waste our monies....there R some good energy companies out there.....:) |

I agree the govt shouldn't be spending billions on this, but I for one would love to be driven to work so I could take nap or god forbid do more work!
