Local Packie Beer List

Curious what good beers you are finding at the local stores - not the grails/whales...

Been digging the Night Shift brews

Very good is the Two Roads Lil'Heaven IPA - a tasty budget beer (@ $18 for a twelve pack it is budget in good beers :whackin: )

Finch's Chimera Hardcore - very, very good (interestingly - local packie said brewery had closed but I see no indication of this)

All the Lagunitas

good to see Night Shift is exporting out of state, good beers there

two that come to mind and have proven to distance themselves recently (here in CT) are New Belgium Abbey (Belgian Double) and Collective Arts Stanger Than Fiction (Porter), two Best In Class to be sure

if I was back on Long Island I would also add Single Cut Half Stack and Full Stack IPAs.

I guess local is a bit confused - I got it on the Mass side of the RI border ;) so distant by RI standards, close by Mass standards

rphud 12-27-2016 09:16 PM

fooled me, I just assumed if you crossed the border you would be on your way to Canton or Monson.

JohnR 12-27-2016 10:50 PM

Monson is a couple hours for a few beers - just doesnt work for me as much as like it - Trillium is a quick run ;)

The Dad Fisherman 12-28-2016 07:03 AM

Packie??? Yeah, you've spent some time in the Boston area :hihi:

Clogston29 12-31-2016 05:28 PM

Tough to justify trips to monson with druve time and limits. Trillium is easy and you can stock up. As far as local places and more available beers go; I like hop knife, be hoppy, bottle rocket, finest kind, shoals, grunion, yeti, night shift, etc. not sure if all distribute to RI.

Probably, but looks to be harder to find than the Sierra at first cut.

put your zip code in and drop the menu to stout and it will show who has had sierra Nevada stout delivered recently, I tested it with my zip.

I had tried that and got some hits that I am not sure are correct before I posted. Did not line up with beermenus either. Might just stop by at a couple anyways to confirm or be pleasantly surprised.

Bad as in hard to find?

Went back to my roots with some Lagunitas Sucks - man that is a good beer. Just pay attention to the brewed date stamped on the neck of the bottle. It's really hard to see and is in Julian date format which is day of the year then last digit signifies year. Example 355 6 would be Dec 21, 2016.

If it's more than three months old - pass on it and tell your packie they're stocking old beer.

rphud 01-18-2017 12:37 PM

yea, hard to find it seems. One hit on beermenus that seems to be bit suspect since I have never seen that place pop up prior to. Not too far away though.

I like Ripper, have some, for other reasonable beers of that segment I prefer Two Roads Lil' Heaven - reasonable @ $16 a 12 pack
