You ain't no slave driver -- Mr. Easy !

Mr. Sandman 01-22-2003 09:02 AM

Why are you selling them?....(be honest please)
Your price is way high for a used reel. Noboday pays msrp. You can get it new for less then 60 bucks at several places. Used line ain't worth much these days. I think if you want to sell them your looking at 30 bucks. (thats if they are in good shape)

mikecc 01-22-2003 09:10 AM

Maybe the Bass Master got a sponsorship:jester:

JohnR 01-22-2003 09:56 AM

He's just cheap and trys to work you hard on a price :D

AveMariaCharters 01-24-2003 11:10 AM

Hello Sandman,
I am selling because each season i update most of my equipment.
As far as retail, they retail for 69.95 ea. and the Spectra is good for another season, and cost 15. to fill each spool.

Mikecc, it's looking good, thanks for your advice.

JohnR, I won't even go down that road !!!

mrmacey 01-24-2003 11:23 AM

im still available

5 hrs = 10.00 hr = 1- reel = a clean cellar!!

JohnR 01-24-2003 11:36 AM

Mr Macey - you haven't seen his cellar (but is has some cool fishing stuff - well used to anyway)...

Hey MikeCC - how does S-B find a reel sponsor, hehehehe....

Mr. Sandman 01-24-2003 11:41 AM

I'll give you 150 for all 5. (you can keep the line if you want to)

lever drag level wind right?

mrmacey 01-24-2003 11:45 AM

wait a minute!!

mr sand man you need your cellar cleaned
3hrs at 10 an hour = 1 reel = a clean cellar for you!!!

Mr. Sandman 01-24-2003 12:00 PM

mr. macey,
Basement is pretty clean, No, I need more reels. I can't imagine buying used equipment (never have)...I was just about to buy the same reels new but if you get them at a decent price then...I suppose its worth it. (the lever drag and level wind are good for bottom fishing with kids) The okuma is a good value reel for kids and guests. (personally I use penn international series):D

Actually, now that I think about it...The titus is the series I really want. (more $) I want to avoid star drag. sorry not intersted. For some reason I thought the CONVECTOR series had lever drag. (brain must be frozen)

mrmacey 01-24-2003 12:11 PM

im only playing

but i did find them 59.99 new and im like you i would put new line thats one thing i dont like is someone coming with me and want to use my rods this winter i got some straps for saftey but the worst is seeing a big birds nest in the reel i just put line on!!! i like an assortment of rods set up so i just have to grab what i want instead of changing stuff i have 3 spinners and 3 trolling bottom ect!! and im in the process of getting a 80lb class set up for bigger fish oh id be cleaning cellars all summer for one of those 50 internationals!!!

Mr. Sandman 01-24-2003 12:18 PM

When my dad past away I picked up a load of big tuna stuff. I will need a bigger boat to carry that gear! I hope to put the 50W's to use though. (yellow fin /shark trip?) Some of that big stuff I might be able to use for my trailer to winch up the boat! Wouldn't that look cool a big penn as a trailer winch.

mrmacey 01-24-2003 12:38 PM

maybe sometime!!

over the summer we could hook up and put that big gear to work im real interested in big fish never did it but want to try it i would like to go with someone that has fished that way before would feel better about hooking a big shark!! ive been reading alot but nothing like experience to get you into those fish!!

Mr. Sandman 01-24-2003 01:41 PM

I've done it but it has always been on a bigger boat (generally 40+ feet). I only have a little boat these days (23) and quite frankly would only feel comfortable making the run offshore on a perfect day.

I plan to spend most of my time "inshore" fishing this year but if I hear some big game fish are in close, I may pick the day and go for it. Like most boaters we all have weather stories, I just don't want to re-live any of them.
But a nice summer day with no bad weather in sight...running 25 or so miles south of the vineyard to tie into some tuna or maybe mako for a few hours..yeah, I'll give it a go. But thats about it for me, until I get that 45 CABO. :D I'll have my year to the ground out here.

It sounds like your gearing up to go. Let me know how you make out. There is nothing quite like the sound of the drag big international screaming under full load. Every fisherman should experience that at least once....
( Having never done it before it might pay you to do a charter out of montauk and watch what he does and ask a lot of questions. )

mrmacey 01-24-2003 01:58 PM

you have bigger boat

than me i was thinkin more like the fall in close like this year you could see them off narragansett in nov im not equiped to go out there my fishing is within lands veiw i found out my insurance only covers within 10 miles im happy with striper fishing but i would like a heavy rod on board just in case!! i try to strip some blue fish and try for a shark or tuna you never know!!!
