Buzzards Bay Tog fishing

A little off topic, but thought people might be interested in some good dog days fishing down in BB. You can get green crabs over at Riverside bait in Tiverton, RI, and work over the rock piles.
Went yesterday and caught 8 nice tog, 3 keepers, could have caught more but had my limit (plenty of tasty scup too). Great mid-summer fishing; however, need to watch the winds and tides to make sure you're not too far out when the wind changes; can get real choppy real quick out there.

How far out did you go on the yak?

Less than half a mile from shore. I don't believe it's safe to go more than that distance out there unless you're an expert and are with someone else. When the wind comes up in the afternoon, it comes up fast, and you can be in for a mighty dangerous paddle in if you get too far out.

The tog are near shore; I was getting them in less than 10 feet of water. Just need to find a good rock pile.
