Isn't it amazing that they all say the same thing and are experiencing "unusually high call volume" whenever you're calling, even if its 2 in the morning?

A (nice) client that had a server corrupt, lost sysvol/AD items, last good backup was early december, last not overwritten backup was middle december, Exchange won't start, files missing, IIS damaged, a few other things. Server kept running until a power outage promoted UPS shutdwon and failed restart end of last week. Worked on it until 3:30 this morning. Now for Round 3

Was that there only DC in the Domain? What roles were assigned to it? Windows Vers.?

SBS = All Eggs One Basket.

Nice, but poor client, could not (or chose not to) afford ongoing maintenance so the last time I looked at the server was probably October, and maybe August before that.

Your Still on the phone? MS sucks. Well they all suck. BTW my instincts on the blue screen of death were right, bad memory.

The Dad Fisherman 01-17-2013 06:02 AM

SBS....haven't touched that for over a decade....yikes! and Even then not very often.

iamskippy 01-17-2013 07:25 AM

Its amazing where people skimp on the $ and cry when stuff breaks, sometimes the expect magic when there is none to be had.

There are way to many cheap solutions out there for back up and redundancy now a days for people to not explore or engage these options.

My empathy level has steadily decreased over the last year.

JohnR 01-17-2013 04:04 PM

Good people, hurting in this economy.

Rockport24 01-17-2013 04:24 PM

I recently had one of our IT infrastructure people tell me the our set up is about 80% "cowboy" and only about 20% done properly - all because of budget constraints...
