good find?

while helping a friend clean out his family shed, we came across a small box of fishing related stuff, which was given to me. I ended up with an old penn reel surfcaster 700 in pretty good shape and a capt bill's plug in the box that looks like it was never fished, just has some light rust on the hooks.
just wondering if i scored some gold here? will post pics later on today

Not gold persay but not bad either, any older stuff like that is always cool to find and keep to decorate your mancave or fishing space. You scored no matter what! Enjoy!

Fish the reel. Used 700s usually don't even bring $100 on e-Bay. They really only have value to a collector who'd want a mint greenie for his display case--and almost all of those guys already have one 700 in their collection.

Penn was THE name in saltwater reels for almost 70 years before they changed ownership, and there are tons of their more common reel models out there.
