Fishing glove recommendation?
Well I have Raynaud's disease and since I'll be fishing the winter for the first time I'm going to need fishing gloves. Typically I avoid them because of the obvious reasons of line tying and they get in the way of everything but I'm not fond of the thought of frostbite and numbness.
Any recommendations without costing a fortune? I'll be going from the kayak and they will be in use from Autumn to Spring. Slit finger gloves would be ideal. Hope everyone had a great holiday! |
Hatch elite winter shooting gloves. Not slit finger, but best winter gloves I have owned. I think they slightly changed them since I bought my first pair, but they look almost the same. Warm and comfortable.

You mentioned kayaking. Do you need a glove that is waterproof?

I use neoprene gloves like stormr and glacier glove.
In temps under 25 they are not enough. Especially in wind. Fingertips get pretty numb. I recently bought a pair of gortex mitten shells to wear over them for transit and breaks. Over freezing i sometimes wear the gorilla grips when there is no wind. They offer no insulation but just a little cut from the cold. What type of fishing are you doing? |
Check out NRS.
I've had a pair for close to 15yrs(Reactor gloves I believe) and have no issues other than the obvious ones you mentioned, knot tying etc. A lot of folks swear by NRS' Hydroskin line of gloves. |
Hard to find the perfect glove - been looking for over 40 years. Fleece lined Glacier Gloves are my favorite. Even so the gloves just don't hold up to the harsh surfcasting I do.
I don't have these but they seem to get good reviews. Steelhead fishing is worse than surfcasting - these are not cheap. https://www.kastgear.com/fishing-glo...duct_tabs_tags |
Used the StormR gloves for years. There really isn't anything that will keep your hands warm AND waterproof.

What kind of winter fishing are you doing?
