New Mexico

This group has always been good for beer recommendations in far away places. I'll be accompanying my wife on a trip to her professional conference in Albuquerque New Mexico. While there we'll also be visiting Taos and Santa Fe. Any recommendations from you guys for restaurants, breweries, beers, places not to miss?

Thanks
DZ

Fun to fly into Albuquerque. The landscape around there is really cool...

Dennis - I'm envious. It's been a few years since I've skied Taos in the winter and essentially followed your itenerary in the spring (Albuquerque, Sante Fe, Taos). Unfortunately, I don't remember the particular restaurants, but with a little research and local recommendations, you'll have no trouble finding good eats. On the spring trip I relished chile rellenos at a few places. Sante Fe is a foodie mecca; Taos renown for its art, but don't miss the Gorge.

Hit quite a few breweries in one of the most beautiful states I've ever visited. Best beer of the bunch: Elevated IPA by La Cumbre Brewing

ABQ was great - I was a Breaking Bad fan and it was neat to see all the places where they filmed the show. Not so fun was seeing the real meth addicts roaming the streets of downtown shaking tourists down - very sad and it was the reason I walked my wife to and from the convention center each day. Highlight of the trip was visiting Taos which is an old hippie haven. Gray ponytails on old men is not the look for me. And Abiquiu which was Georgia O'Keeffe's ranch was beautiful and we hiked there. Sante Fe was very nice also. Food was fantastic but I'm now burnt out on tacos, burritos, and mexican food in general.
