I have a confession to make

It is easier to get good whiskey than to drive to Treehouse ; )

Last 6 months have been digging:

Michters Straight Rye
Elijah Craig
Anything High West, but particularly a Midwinter Night's Dram
Wellers Antique
Blanton's

I will always go back to my girl but this has been a fun excursion

I've been doing the same thing over the winter.

Been digging the barrel proof/cask strength stuff myself lately.

Got a nice Michters Barrell strength rye that is pretty tasty, you might like that one John.

Don't feel bad....A couple years ago I was so Treehouse, etc. but I hated the thought of standing in line after driving an hour....I always felt it was absurd to spend three hours for a beer run...especially when the limit was less than a case per person in monson (which was closer too). In general I was never a big fan of waiting in line for beer (yes I did on occasion) Always say I like drinking good beer more than I like standing in line for it! A lot has changed for me since I really started ramping up my home brewing gig. I am my own worst critic but it got to the point I started saying why am I either waiting in line and/ or paying $16 a four pack for beer when I'm making beer just as good, sometimes better ( not maybe treehouse better but damn good either way) ...nonsense.....

I know it sounds like I got off topic here but my point is that you don't have to travel or spend time waiting in what I feel is a bit demeaning lines to find something you like. Life is busy.....the trend of traveling hours and waiting hours for a beverage is ok once in a while but overall...overrated. With that said I WISH I liked whisky or Bourbon but I just don't. I WANT to but after many attempts I just dont like it. Moral of my babbling is get what you like, enjoy, and dont waste time or money on the "hype"....unless it's really what you have to have and want! There are so many options out there right now that there is no reason to spend rediculous time or money to find something you like easily.

Pick up a bottle of the Elijah Craig Barrel Proof this past weekend, very tasty and deadly smooth.
