Boomer joined us yesterday. He is a Lab / Husky mix :btu:

I made a deal with my son that if he sold $800 in popcorn for Scouts we'd get a dog. He sold $1500

The Dad Fisherman 05-01-2012 01:01 PM

$100 more he could have had 2 dogs..:hihi:

Hooked - I've been thinking about one for the truck and would love to have one for the vehicle - if you have no need / use for one.

We do have a pseudo crate/cage which he stays in for now while we are gone or at night. He is actually pretty cool with it and goes right in with no problems (helps that is where the comfy dog bed is).

Slingah 05-01-2012 08:02 PM

nice puppy....I want one.....woof

Raven 05-01-2012 08:08 PM

tennis ball is the key to training
make a retrievable one first
with rope tied thru and fill with
doggie beef jerky for reward (smell)
eventually you wean off that one
to reg. ball and treats for returning it
once you have established eye contact
move the ball the head moves
they can be taught anything
nice looking PUP John

teach him to keep wolves away -LOL

i test cast some of the rods i build with a tennis ball, bring the rod to the field tie on a ball to the line cats it and my dog will chase it all day.

The Dad Fisherman 05-03-2012 04:58 AM

My Daughter is in love with the pooch....showed her a picture and she wants it. :hihi:

PRBuzz 05-03-2012 05:47 AM

Need to start a new thread: "puppy training/teaching tricks"

Take an old athletic sock(s) and tie a knot in it, great play toy. I had a pup that during teething, he would fetch the sock and bring it to me, I would shake it in his mouth a couple times, tooth would fall out, and pup would walk away and take a nap.

Make sure the pup knows which toys are his and which are "dad's" shoes.

Raven 05-03-2012 09:31 AM

my wife did the whole sock thing when she first had our dog (puppy)
while still in california and it was only 6 or seven weeks old

but she was only there briefly... see
and the dog developed a foot fetish...

always has to be at your feet....

Sundowner 05-03-2012 10:24 AM

That is a nice looking pup, interesting mix too. Husky eyes. Great that it goes in the cage willingly, could be a handful. Congrats, and awesome job by your boy.

Raven 05-04-2012 02:41 PM

One of my favorite times of the day
is when my dog comes around to tell me she's hungry.....

and then it begins.....

ARE You? a Hungreeeee dog Star?
that gets the tail Motor-in

then ya pet the dog for awhile....
then ya say... i don't think your THAT HUNGRY?

and then she'll do the whole woo wooooge signal ,(sayin) OH yes i am!
