Trump Wants to Send Checks to Households Immediately

So all those who cry socialist this or socialism that....

Like over the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 final cost $831 billion Which Only three Republican Senators voted for it

What will Republicans do now ... that they own the White House and senate and own this crisis

What a pickle they find themselves in

Maybe they will hit their local restaurant or pub at the recommendations of Nunes recently during a Fox interview to discuss, because apparently he knows better than the CDC.

He said to do that now? Or when the crisis is over?

I'm not a big fan of socialism, but I'm not sure that the feds giving me back a small portion of what I previously gave them, and letting me do whatever I want with it, would be considered "socialism".

The ARRA didn't give money to individuals to do whatever they wanted with. I don't personally know anyone, who saw a dime from it, as far as I know. I give Obama decent grades for helping to un-do the mess he inherited, the ARRA was one thing which was kind of a flop, all those shovel ready projects that didn't happen?. He did other things that worked better.

"that they own the White House and senate and own this crisis "

The House of Representatives plays no role whatsoever, in setting public policy? Really? Whew.

The federal government doesn't own "the crisis". They own the response to the crisis. What has the house proposed, that was shot down, other than a "relief bill" which even according to MSNBC, was amended to include abortion funding, so the GOP rightly shot it down.

Stated Sunday in an interview with Bartiromo "I will just say, one of the things you can do, if you're healthy, you and your family, it's a great time to just go out, go to a local restaurant, likely you can get in, get in easily. Let's not hurt the working people of this country that are relying on wages and tips to keep their small business going."

Can't even make that lame crap up, the messaging from this administration and some of the GOP membership is not good.

That's pretty stupid, for sure...

Trump isn't who I'd want to personally have to speak to soothe our fears, instill calm that it will all be all right. I believe that to be the case, but not because of what he says. I have a hard time listening to him speak, he's really bad at it most of the time.

A lot of doctors are saying his first-day travel restrictions could make a big difference. I like much of what he does, not much of what he says...

our golden puppy is the big winner here, three boys home from school to spoil him.

what kind of $$$ are we talking about here? Couldn't find anything...

Trumps tax cuts were, in my opinion, fairly criticized for giving too much to corporations, not enough to people. The administration is saying that "millionaires", however that's defined, won't be getting any money.

So why isn't this a good thing, to put money directly in the pockets of individuals? Many of whom work in the service sector, and could be missing paychecks? I'm going to be genuinely interested to see how Trump haters attempt to spin this.

When Trump gives money to corporations, the haters say it's bad because it should go to people. When Trump gives money directly to people, somehow that's also bad. Whatever he does, NO MATTER WHAT, it can't be a good thing.

Bush also sent checks to people at one point. Obama didn't. Now Trump will. Funny how the party label plays out there...

Red Cross says blood supplies are very low. We're better than that, give blood.

pure jibberish, can’t understand what you’re saying, but i know that somehow you’re saying everything is the republicans fault.

Bush sent checks directly to people. Soon Trump will too. Obama didn’t.

Try making that wrong.

It seems like the financial aid package has broad support across both parties. Trump seems to have been left out of the neg. It was Pelosi and Munchen. Checks seem like a good idea with a cap of income who could receive the checks (200K?).

Unempl. claims are way up - like a factor of 10x. I feel bad but I don't have any sympathy for the airlines. They have gouged us at every turn.

Let's now forget the Obama aid package was constantly changed to address Rep. concerns and then I don't believe it got any Rep. votes.

agreed all around, nice to see both sides do something quickly to help.

do airlines make a ton of money?

i honestly don’t k ow anyone who benefitted from the obama stimulus. he did other things that helped, the stimulus to target shovel ready projects, was kind of a flop. even obama
later joked that the project weren’t as shovel ready as he thought. he was able to chuckle as he said this, because he knew no one would
criticize him for wasting almost a trillion.

It's funny how conservatives fight for free markets and less government until there's a crisis.

But Bush sent check Obama didn't... you really dont understand my question

Right! We want the government, when at all possible and prudent, to leave us the hell alone. But we don't want zero government.

Furthermore, this is less government, not more. The government is returning to us, a small portion of what we gave them. Instead of the government spending that money on our behalf, WE get to spend it how we see fit.

You're so desperate to use this as a club against republicans, that you can't see the obvious.

This isn't an entitlement program going to people who in some cases, are choosing not to work. This is relief for taxpayers as well, in a time of short-term crisis.
