Someone here last year found the complete federal list of tuna dealers (very long list) then parsed it for our region and got it down to 5 pages. I have been using this list (it is for 2011).

I got it, Thanks

Which ever one you pick ask them if they donate towards the ABTA.
Bob @ NAT I believe donates 10 cents per lb to help ABTA fight the battles every year that need to be fought so everyone (commercial & rec) can continue to fish for them. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
Andy Baler @ Nantucket fish has always done right by us.

Now all I need is a sat phone to phone it in before I get there. I am hoping to order one this week. |
Sandman, Red's Best just opened a fish house in Menemsha.
They have been very good to me here in Boston. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
FWIW I'm in the seafood business and that list is not exclusively for BFT.
They are tuna dealers in that they're wholesalers. That doesn't mean they will buy a giant off the back of your truck. They buy and sell yellowfin/bigeye from Boston. I think there's 10 or so on there that will buy BFT. |
that is what I 'm looking for. Someone that buys them at the dock, or will meet you at the dock. Thanks in advance for any names,or phone numbers. I will be fishing out of Sandwich, Plymouth, and Green Harbor.

agree with Ronnie! MUST support ABTA! Not all about YOU! Gotta support the ones who support.

anyone fishing the Cape Ann area on the NW corner or in the bay can call this tuna buyer Pat Frontierro - 508-432-8812 easy take out and easy to get to at the auction its located about 100 yds. after the coast guard station on the left across from the state fish pier....they ship to japan....this guy has been buying tuna for years....they charge 5% less then compass on handling and shipping to japan...Compass charges 10% handling fee.
Patsy gives 24 hour service..meets U anytime...tell them what time to meet and they will be there. No one can tell you what you will get for a price....all prices are given in japan....the dealers can only grade your fish for fat content(quality)....U may get a price if sold on the domestic market. |
Just head a story about someone returning from Georges with 3 fish all of which returned $0 after expenses.
|
For some reason the George's fish don't tend to have the premo fat content that the inshore fish do. Peculiar, as they're generally chowing on herring, and can obviously swim great distances in a day, so it's not like they're a completely different stock. But a Georges fish tends to get about $4-8/lb, while the inshore fish like FR said have been steadily netting about $15-25. Most I've heard of so far was a 519 that got $26/lb.
|
Prices from Georges have not been that great....tuna feeding on scallop guts meaning very low quality....could be old news a boat from here a few weeks ago had 3 fish and got 3 bucks a poundmost boats from here have stopped going to georges

Just wasting the quota

Yes and no about wasting the quota....government has been threatening to give some of our quota to other countries....we do not need that.
