Has beens and one hit wonders

What are some and where are they now?

Pretty much most of the bands from the mid to late 80's were one hit wonders. Off the top of my head I can remember:

Survivor
Men at Work
Tone Loc
The Bangles
Dexy's Midnight Runners
Quiet Riot
Bananarama
Men Without Hats

The Dad Fisherman 11-26-2008 10:41 AM

The Knack
Billy Squier
The Vapors
Bow Wow Wow
Crash Test Dummies
4 Non Blondes
The Spin Doctors
Spacehog
Presidents of the United States of America
The Refreshments

This was the ultimate hookup song of the 80's, all you had to do was grab the closest girl and start dancing with her....

Bingo. Hotter than hell, then fell right off the face of the earth.

BigFish 11-27-2008 10:50 AM

They had more than 1 hit single and more than 1 hit album. Cracked Rear View still one of the best albums of the 90's.......I love it!:btu:

what happened to Mazzy Star?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysu-o4oCVSA

they faded away I guess

how about Alanis Morrisette while we're at it?

I am convinced there are countless one hit wonders

Mike P 11-27-2008 01:38 PM

THE classic one-hit wonder, from the 70s--Norman Greenbaum and "Spirit in the Sky" ;)

There was also The Looking Glass with "Venus", and whoever it was that did "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)".

ThomCat 11-27-2008 01:50 PM

:as: Lee Michaels- "Do Ya Know What I Mean?" Saw him with play it with just a drummer and a Hammond in the early 70's at the Loew's State Theater in Prov. Still hear it almost every day on Cool 102:pop::cheers:

fishbones 11-27-2008 02:57 PM

How about Matthew Wilder? Can anyone name the hit song he had in the late 80's?

I've got my 20th HS reunion tomorrow night and they're supposed to be playing music that was popular while we were in HS. I should have a bunch of good one hit wonders on Saturday if I can remember anything.

saltfly 11-27-2008 11:10 PM
