I miss Terry with Zappa. To this day one of my favorites is Zappa in New York. Terry's voice cracks me up every time. Also he is a beast in the video "Baby Snakes"

Shame he didn't really go with any decent bands after that...talented man.

Its not the amount of drums

No it's not the amount of drums ... apples and oranges ... Zappa drummers are a differant breed ... They had to play what ever little specs he wrote on the paper... If you grow tired of 4/4 time and three chord progression .. give a listen ..

Bebop Tango and Approximate are also wicked songs

Trombone solo in Bebop Tango is sick ,,. not alot of people into that kind of stuff .. not to commercial for sure ... I love it ... listen to it 100 times ,, always hear it a differant way .. "This is the beat ,,, That's the pedestrian beat !!! "

I feel very fortunate to have seen many great drummers in concert.Keith Moon,Billy Cobham,Corky Laing,Bill Ward,Johnny Barbata,Terry Bozzio,Matt Abts,Bill and Mickey,Butch and Jaimoe,etc.Gotta love the skins.

Buddy was just a natural talent, the confidence to do what he did is not common. The depth of the fills on that snare is really crazy.

I'm a huge Peart fan. His stamina is awesome, and while he's one of the best rock drummers ever I love that he longs to be a jazz guy at heart.

Anybody who played with Zappa must be nuts, it's almost like being hard just for the hell of it. All the time stop stuff and changes isn't the same as the swing at all...

All things considered, it takes a heck of a lot of talent to do any of it.

Great stuff Paul !

Carter Beauford for my money is the most tasteful drummer .. all the little things he does .. If I could pic a drummer I'd play like this .. "Play" key word .. doesn't even look like he's working ..

very nice Eddie.

I can't stand that guys voice though

Zeal 10-06-2010 07:47 PM

Neil Peart's solo from the "Rush in Rio" tour on Youtube is by far my favorite of all drum playing and kit work (well he had a damn platform really).
